What do you recommend for a new ratchet

As a long time tech it is hard to beat a snap-on for the every day grind. I have the curved handle flex as I was a drivability tech and replaced a zillion spark plugs.
That being said now that I only work on the eL C and I use a couple of other brands. I go by the rule of do I need an expensive tool to do a job I need to do? or....if I take my time can I do with a less expensive tool. Does the end justify the means?
I am by nature a tight wad, but I am too broke to go cheap if you know what I mean.
Don't care about show any more...Just want to go

i am in the boat as the the original poster. craftsman stuff has turned to crap. i have had very good luck with the pittsburgh impact socket line. have both standard and metric in short, long plus the hex and torx. the ratchets are pretty decent, extensions have worked well so far. i have been extremely inpressed with my tekton ratchets and my gearwrench ratchets. tektons are 72t ,the gearwrench i have both 84t and 120xp.
tekton seems to be cheapest on amazon. gearwrench is cheaper then amazon if you do alittle hunting.

I have a Harbor Freight and a Runnings store near me. HF carries the Pittsburgh Professional line and Runnings carries Tekon. Both are within a dollar or two for the same tool. So I guess the question is now looking like what is the better deal between the two.

I only with there was a viable made in USA option in my price range.

The one thing I absolutely HATE about HF is that if a set is missing a size (example 15mm 17mm 18mm no 16mm) you are pretty much screwed since they do not sell individual sockets to complete sets.

For me that is extremely annoying.

I'm also crazy so this may not be an issue for some..

i have no problem with you being crazy. to each there own.
but, yes, i never understood the idea of short changing you on a socket or wrench. and its always the 16mm. not 13, or 19, just 16.
now i do realize that the difference between 16mm and 5/8 is only .005". but why should i have to buy a standard set of tools to make up for it?

Outside of a store, I've never seen so many ratchets in one place!
