My bolt on cowl is from Unlimited, and the fit and finish was poor to be honest!!!! It required WAY too much prep time, and it's still not perfect! Not to mention the threads to mount it are too small I believe compared to a stock hood. I had to modify a Jeep pop up spring to work as the hood didn't come with any provision for one.
Jim, gimme a bit and I'll get you some specs on it. I want to say it's for a JK maybe, but not 100%. I do know it's not quite strong enough to pop the hood enough to grab the latch. I plan to add 1/4" between the mount and the hood to make the spring have more tension. If that doesn't work I'll add more. What Jeep hood spring did you use? A pic or two would be great.
My son just bought used hood with no provision for the spring (which seems crazy, silly, stupid to say the least.) Obviously, I'm having issues with the spring giddyup.
I know this is not a current thread, but I can't seem to locate a solution to the spring issue.
Here ya go Jim. My UP22 hood didn't have a provision either for the spring, only the hinges and safety catch. I just flattened the mount surface, drilled two holes and done. Like mentioned, I'll tweak it some to get more tension. What Jeep hood spring did you use? A pic or two would be great.
