I got 430s in my car now but went from a 400 small block t10 4speed to a 496 big block th350 manual valve body and 3000 stall speed do to cost of a new twin disc clutch, when I cruise it didn't feel as bad with the stick ,430s and 28/10.5/15 slicks, now I feel it alot more and car definitely has alot more torque ,car went 7.22 on motor 1/8 and 6.55 on spray, I have 350 gears and 410s to choose from

not bad for foot breaking it

Loose converters always make the car feel sloppy. Run some simulations and see what the engine wants. Or you can trial and error it at the track.

What does the engine's powerband look like?

What do you mean by simulations ,sorry I shift the car around 5800- 6000 but pulls pretty decent to about 6500 then starts falling off , swapping headers to try and get lil more out of it 1-3/4 headers with 2-1/2 exhaust ,going to 2-1/8 headers with 3-1/2 exhaust

So what are you really asking and what are you setting up for.
What gears people are using with a 28" tall tire, car gets driven from race to race and car feels like it got too much gear with the big block compared to the small block , probably cause of the torque difference, I have a choice between 350 gears or 410s both got spools ready to drop in, we do mostly 1/8 mile but car does see highway at times

The only thing to change the rpms between the SBC & BBC is the torque convertor which must have a lot of slippage. I run 4.33 gears in the Regal and 4.56 in the Sonoma. The 4.33 is good for 1/8 mi and will put you through the 1/4 mi around 6200 rpm.

Go with a 2" header. Find out what rpm the motor goes to and play with shift points. Leave the gears alone and see where it goes. I ran 4.88's with my 10.5X29.5 tires and ran the 1/4 with it. Shifted at 7200 and crossed about the same.

Going with the 2-1/8 because they are dam there free believe me I'd prefer the 2" for fitment but when someone says I'll never build a N/A big block sobgo ahead and take these brand new 900$ headers and exhaust we'll figure it out later ,pickers can't be choosers 😂😂

I'm going to be changing the converter over the winter ,is it possible to get one that is tighter in top end but hits harder off the line? I'm also running a 100 shot right now but plan to work to 200 possibly 250 also is reason for questioning about the gears

A good converter company can build a converter at any stall speed that has minimal slip at the finish line. However, you are going to have a compromise. The converter stalls based on torque, so for it to be good on nitrous its going to suck on motor. A stick is more forgiving that way.
