What got you in to Cutlasses/G Bodies?

I have always loved the look of a G body, even before I knew what a G body was. There was a 78-80 Monte that never moved at an apartment complex I used to live in. I always stared at it. I don't think it ran but the body was good. When I totaled my Acura, I said f it and set out to get the car I always wanted. I went to texas and bought a rust free 79 Monte, which was supposed to be my dream car. That car ended up getting stripped and sold, now I have a love/hate relationship with my 85 Cutlass

my moms first car was a 84 cutty. my dads 2nd car was a 85 monte cl. he also had a grand prix at sometime. my grandma told me she also had a monte, she says just like my regal as in the body style. and growing up me and my friends always use to like the cars with the 26s and flashy paint job with the boom in the back. so i always like these cars but in a different way then i do now. i got older and my taste on these cars did a 360. mainly because i stopped hanging with a bunch of people who were going nowere in life and i wanted to be different. i never liked doing stuff just cause other people did it. so i told my self ima let them keep spending $50k on rims and music and paint and i would just take the same amount of money, put it in my motor instead, and MAAAASH OUT! on the monster truck gbody that keeps dieing on them because they had no money to put into the cars cause.

so anyway.. sorry about that. but now i finaly got a gbody of my own as my 1st car and my mom got another 84 cutty since seeing my regal made her reminicse lol

When I turned 16 and got my license my father didn't want me driving in their car. One of his close friends had an '87 Olds Cutlass Supreme for sale so he ended up buying that for himself and me to drive...and that's when the addiction started LOL

Not gonna lie-the movie Training Day got me interested in G-bodies (specifically the 78-80 Montes). I love the lines/curves and watched the movie over and over just to see the car. I bought my car in high school on ebay for $800 and now, after a few upgrades, drive it to work daily. I always get comments and compliments-"this car is not from the motorpool."

The price, couldn't find a decent 70-72 Cutlass that was rotten out or stripped..Plus this car was in a field two blocks from the house..next step is Back Halfing the car..

I became interested in these cars when I paid 80 bucks for my first cutlass (bad motor) good 700r4 so I sold transmission and body for 450.every since I have been hooked im on my 13th cutlass I have owned 1 regal, 2 elco (still got 1) 3 montes and 1 gp but I love these cars because they r cheap down south and they bring good money in rust free parts

depends on how far south ya are , down here in florida they seem to get a pretty good price. you can still find a good deal if you really look around but i had a hard time finding a solid project in my area that was reasonable price and not to tore up. paid $900. for a rolling frame and body '80 cutty, no motor, transmission or interior, in primer. i know back in ohio i could have gotten the same thing for $400 . finding one as rust free would have been a little tougher though.

ya some of these florida folks are trippen. theres a few good deals, but the majority are like 1500 for crater like rust spots EVERYwere on car

My first car was a T-Top 86 Monte Carlo SS which i got when i was 20 and paid only $3000 for it . When i bout the car it had freshly rebuilt 355 with double hump heads very large unknown cam flat top pistons brodix intake noisey gear drive which i loved and everyone else hated and a freshly rebuilt th350 with shift kit. It was primed when i got it but me and my dad sanded it preped it and painted it Black Cherry Pearl. With dat motor and the factory 3.73 rearend gave it a hell of a launch on take off so at only 20 years old with dat car you know i enjoy every bit of it.

Mine was when i first saw a cutlass. It was my cousin's 88 cutlass (now mine). It was parked outside our house while he picked up my brother. When i found out what kind of car it was i spend hours googling pictures of it and that's when i got set. I also ended watching 4brothers and loved the main cutlass and watched that movie religously.

I now have owned a total of 4 cutlass and have 1 regal. I bought my cousin's 88 and 80 4dr form him for 300 when i was 15 and now am finally stripping my first 84 and fixing me regal while i save up the movey for the body work to be done on the 88

What got me into Gbodies was my dad , we always kinda had a Gbody in our driveway growing up but for the past 10 years we have not had one. So i decided at about 14 years old i wanted a elky but as i got older i realized how badass Grand nationals where then i found out the price. Turned 18 and decided its time to get my car and tryed to find some cheap GNS but i didnt have the skill to fix them so i found a great cutlass with only 51 000 kms for cheap thats my 87 cutlass.

my grandfather and dad have always had cars to tinker with, my dad had a T-Top regal and a cutlass when i was growing up. so i've have the G-bug for awhile but it was when a guy owed my dad some cash when i was 17 and gave him a blue 87 SS that i got hooked.. i was old enough to drive and the car (in stock form) was way more badass then my 89 honda accord 8) we fixed that one up pretty good and my dad ended up selling it from under me.. (actually he did me a favor, it was really rusted out underneath, body was good though)

since then i went to college and bummed around with a 99 malibu.. as soon as i got out and found a good job the hunt was on! i wanted a T-Type Regal (still do) or a 79 Monte. i found her one day helping my girlfriend look at a car, as we were leaving i saw the most beautiful thing sitting down a side street, i doubled back there she was, wasn't even for sale.. i knocked on the door.. turned out the guys wife had been trying to get him to sell it.. he was the orig owner.. i walked away with it that day.

to me, its a love affair, there's no car with the curves and a more stout appearance. she was dubbed Lola by a friend last year. and she's been making my girl jealeous ever since. she'll be in my stable to the end.
