I became interested in these cars when I paid 80 bucks for my first cutlass (bad motor) good 700r4 so I sold transmission and body for 450.every since I have been hooked im on my 13th cutlass I have owned 1 regal, 2 elco (still got 1) 3 montes and 1 gp but I love these cars because they r cheap down south and they bring good money in rust free parts
My Grandpa and grandma both had matching 79 Cutlasses,a light blueish one and a dark blue one. I had always wanted one since then. Now I am on my eleventh Cutlass,13th G-body. So I guess I became pretty obsessed lol😉[/quo
That is one very nice G body,do you have any more pics?

depends on how far south ya are , down here in florida they seem to get a pretty good price. you can still find a good deal if you really look around but i had a hard time finding a solid project in my area that was reasonable price and not to tore up. paid $900. for a rolling frame and body '80 cutty, no motor, transmission or interior, in primer. i know back in ohio i could have gotten the same thing for $400 . finding one as rust free would have been a little tougher though.
I've always like the 80s Oldsmobiles, but never thought of buying one. The reason I got mine is because I had 3 4-cyl Fords die on me in less than 6 months (Mustang, Tempo, Probe), and wanted a complete change. Now, I'm planning on either a 2-door Cutlass or Grand Prix with a big block. The reason I like G-bodies now is because of all the help from this forum, combined with how straight forward and cheap these things are.
I brought my 1981 Olds Cutlass Supreme Brougham with 350 Diesel/TH-200/2:18 for $300 in 2007. Only had to replace the batteries and a power steeering hose. And I been driving the hell out of it. The Power steering pump started leaking bad and the Brake Master Cylinder went out about last year or so. Other then that the car has been great. Altho, I have done alot of upgrades that I wont get into, its all on my Cardomain page. But I figure I got about $1000 into the car total. I have probably put about 50,000 miles on it. All with OEM diesel engine.
But I blow a head gasket last week. My fault I was try to richen up the car to make the diesel smoke like a train. Too much fuel and pop goes the weasel. But I have all a 455 mounted on an engine stand in the barn for about 3 years now. I will do an rebuild on it. And hopefully have it in by November.
For me at 1st i was going to buy a 79 Trans Am but my dad thought that it would kill him on the insurance. So
he found a 79 Old Cutlass Supreme Broughm that i thought was stunning, ran great and drove really smooth. Started to fix it up, new motor and trans then a paint job. Just truely fell in love. The car was stolen right in front of the house got it back and put it back together. Had the car for awhile then sold her when i was offered a crazy price. After that always regretted selling her. After 25 yrs i bought another 79 Calais and going to restore this one with my son. We already picked up a 69 455 f block with the C heads and stock 400 turbo that came with the motor.
Lowrider magazine, there used to be a picture of a gold 78 or 79 Monte in there every issue...it had gold daytons and the top was cut off and I think it had a roll bar and was slammed to the ground. My first Gbody was a 78 Monte that was my baby, I had Iroc wheels on it no springs in the back and cut half of the springs out of the front. I drug over every speedbump in Nashville, then some jackass burned it to the ground the night before prom 1992.
Since then I've had 3 Regals, 2 Grand Prix's and 2 Cutlass's. So that makes 8 gbody's for me....damn I wish I'd kept some of those cars.
