Getting off the line with a one wheel peel big block is near impossible. Well near impossible if you stab it. That is going to be your down fall there. That is the best thing about a big block, lots and lots of torque, especially down low. If your just spinning you will get beat.

Ive got a whole wish list full of suspension and rear end on spohns website that hopefully ill be able to get piece by piece so i have a nice suspension set up. Thanks for everybodys input by the way.

that 7.5 needs to be in a hall of fame. I have nothing against 7.5's and think are great for what they were built for but I have never seen one survive with that you do it..

Re: What time do you think my car will run as it is right no

'83 Monte, 9" w/3.73 gears, locker, 28" slicks (too tall) TH400 with shift kit and solonoid switch, 2500 stall, dual 3" exhaust with dumps (caps removed), 502/502 big block ~540hp and I've run 12.202 @ 110mph.

I spun the street tires for 660ft then bought slicks.

This is not as fast as the car would go, but I did not want to bump into Super Pro, at the time, as I didn't want to install a roll bar at 11.99. So I just raced it where it was and worked on consistency.

Now that the cut-off is 11.49, I am tuning the car to go 11.6ish. I moved the battery to the trunk, bought an electirc rad fan, am re-tuning the Koni Shocks, bought lightweight rims (Welds) and 26" tall slicks to better make use of my gearing.

If needed I will go to a 3500 stall converter.

Re: What time do you think my car will run as it is right no

Cnuk, Great ride. Just some thoughts. If you go to that high of stall with the shorter tire it might become hard to be consistent ie blowing em off the line. The bigger foot print and taller sidewall makes em a lot more consistent. 2,500 to 3,000 seems to still be pretty nice if you drive it on the highway at all. Unless cammed hard a 3,000 should hit the 502s torque curve pretty well. 3,500 seems to really slip hard & heat the trans, suck fuel hard, and turn a lot more rpm. Just a heads up from my experiences and my buddies BB cars. I know this can very from one converter to the next but in general. What is your peak HP rpm? PS Would love to see you put some pics motor, rear, shocks, etc and build info in your picture album.

Re: What time do you think my car will run as it is right no

Depends on who you talk to but they recommend anywhere from 3000-3500rpm stall for my setup. I just don't like to spend $400 to go from 2500-3000!

The converter I have was supposed to be 2200stall, but with the torque I have it's actually locking a little higher.

The 26" slick is what I was supposed to run, right from the start, but I goofed when I ordered, and ended up with the 28" (non-returnable).

I did put bead lock screws as I am going to have to run lower pressures (10-12psi) and I know that with the 28" ones at anything under 12psi I would tear tubes. I normally ran the 28s at 14psi.

GM recommends 5800 as the redline, but It pulls into the low 6000 area. Right now I hit the finish line at about 5600.

I am going to put on roller rockers, this winter as well, if they will fit under my valve covers.

Peak HP is between 3800-4300 rpm.Peak toruque is ~5200rpm.

I reprogrammed the governer on the TH400, it shifts 1-2 at 4800rpm, and 2-3 at 5200rpm. I run with the electric shift solonoid switched off so it shifts solely off the governer.

I will see about pictures.
