What would cause my gauges not to work?

it sounds like the only gauge that doesn't work is the fuel gauge. The clock is constant power and the speedo is cable driven.
Your alternator should have the 2 prong plug and one wire from the battery

the gray/brownish wire on the 2 prong plug is twisted together with 2 other wires, i have no clue if they are the correct wires or not but i know thats not how it should be. my fuel gauge does seem to work, the needle is just on the wrong side of the meter, the clock nor the speedometer budges but the gauge cluster does light up when i turn on the lights.

well the alt works now but my gauges still acting funny. if i hit the dash, the dash lights go off and the turn lights inside dont flash, i gotta keep hitting it until they work. i took the cluster out and everything looks fine? the speedo cable was connected from the gauge to the trans but the speedometer still doesnt work. neither does the clock. and my fuel gage stays past full. i even took off the lense and moved the gauge to "E" and it just went right back to where it was.

the speedo cable may be broken or the speedo head may be defective...if you take cluster out disconnect the speedo and see if the speedo head works..if it owrks then it's probably the cable....as for the bad connections it's either the the lites have a bad connection on the circuit board or the contacts could be dirty...and the fuel could be a bad ground but you have to check it

Fuel tank sender.....could it be installed wrong in the tank to give a full reading all the time?
