I have 85 ss monte, was just wondering what everyone is doing for the headlights. I see alot of places that sell conversions. Is it best to just stay with the orriginals or go with the conversion?

I did the Chevy celebrity composite conversion on my SS. You need the aftermarket buckets from Lauren Engineering.

I have looked at a few and am going with the halogen bulb. The 9004 and 9005 as I recall. Not the sealed beam unit. Economical and pretty decent lighting

there are lots of threads about headlight conversions, I have hella conversion lenses with 4300k bi-xenon for the hi/lo beam and 6000k hid for the high beam. I tried the plastic chinese junk conversion lenses but they have no cut line so not to bother the other drivers you need to point them down, plus those plastic lenses leak when driving in the rain. With the hella lenses I can point them further down the road without bothering the other drivers.

X2 on the Hella H4 conversions. I put them in my Malibu with the bulbs that come in the kit, and the beam pattern is crazy good. Then I threw some Hella 55/100w bulbs in (along with some heavier wire and a relay, of course.) My 1980 Malibu has brighter lights that shine further down the road than my 2010 charger hands down.

Best part is, now I could go to HID's or LED's if I wanted.
