When I worked on aircraft I had a nice assortment of tool all made in the USA and Canada. Back then in the 70's and 80's I probably had $6,000 tied up in those tool, some of which were specialty tools for the type of aircraft I was working on. At today's prices those tools would be well over 10k. I only wish I had kept all those tool but when I quit that job but I sold just about everything to my friendly co workers and moved to Florida.
no, I was a battered child but fortunately never deep fried.....
I worked for Canadair now known as Bombardier, worked on the CL 215, CL 600, CL 601, sub assemblies of the 747, 767 & A/F 18 Hornet and did repairs on the F 111

on another forum guys were talking about Texton and here's a reply to am email sent to Texton...sounds like it's a crashoot to find a good tool in their line.....

We don't offer product solely by picking a country. We always try to weigh the options and pick the best bet for the customer. Country of origin is only one piece of the puzzle. Generally assumptions of COO= Quality just lead to missed expectations and disappointment, IMHO

some of the guys tried them out, they said the wrenches were good but the ratchets were questionable. Some guy compare them to the tools they got from Harbor Freight but they said the customer service was great.
If you looked in my box at work or home the mix bag from scrap metal to snap-on and Matco would probably surprise you. When I was younger I wanted all high quality matching sets. Now I could care less if I have all the sizes it's a set! However as a body man doing heavy collision there's no replacement for Erwin vice grips when clamping this late model crap back together all the imotations are JUNK! My box at work is a second hand Maco nhra top and bottom it's a 96 still looks good and holds my tools at home I have a small Craftsman top and bottom my Father got me for my 18th birthday I just added 2 antique snap-on side boxes it's kinda falling apart but it dose the job. My newest tool box idea is a truck I'm building 1980 crew cab utility body 4x4 go anywhere fix anything
