Thanks, I was looking for an aluminum compliment to the SSIII wheel when I found them. I think if you go with 17x8 all the way around the 245/50/17 is what you want to maintain the correct wheel height for speedo calibration.

I talked to Coy about the C57 instead of the C67 and they said the depressed inside of the spokes could be painted the gold accent color with light scuff. That might be a good look too, me thinks . . . maybe get some blank center caps and get creative with a black background and a small 442?

Wow, those actually look like they belong. One thing about the Hurst wheels is it is almost too much gold. I was thinking about getting the polished black ones and paint just the inside of the spokes gold for some extra contrast. And, try to get a 442 center cap on them in place of the Hurst cap that looks like it belongs.

Unfortunately, those Saber U437s are $600 each PLUS $85 for the stupid center cap! I like them too but they are just too rich for my blood [at least at this point . . .]

Partly just cuz I will be spending nearly $5K on all my suspension/brake mods, I think I am going to continue running my SSIIIs for a while with the new suspension setup unless and until I realize that the car just won't hook up at all with those splashy 245/60/15 BFGs on it??

That said, instead of the 45 series staggered setup, I am kinda liking these General tires [even the price] . . . and could just go 245/50/17 all around if I get some 17" wheels . . . I personally would prefer to keep a 50 series sidewall for better ride quality and maintain 4 way rotation if these will stick? They are considered an ultra high performance all season sport truck - SUV tire but are W speed rated [168mph should be good . . .]

I am going with 245/45/17's on my Elk, with Federal SS 595's. I have liked them so far on my Audi, so I'm giving them a chance on my Elk.

If you are looking for a cheap wheel to get you into 17's until you make a decision, I went with Cragar Soft 8's.

I wonder what these would look like with the center of those spokes . . . gold? Similar to the Coy C57 but has a flatter center pop cap that I could likely get a decent 442 look on.

Hmmm, tough call. I both would look decent. I think the American Racing wheel will hold paint better, but I like the chrome on the Coys. Chrome wasn't available when I got mine. The caps came without the stickers installed.

Coy finally responded and said that their chrome wheel wouldn't take paint, only the polished aluminum. Probably is a way to selectively remove chrome plating but I don't know how?

The chrome can be scuffed and painted, the critical part is the sealer before the color. After all, the OE chrome wheels were painted. I don't think you could selectively remove chrome.

You could use Plasti-Dip for the color. It will stick to the chrome and is removable if you don't like it.

I had a bad experience with general tire; it only lasted about 15,000 miles before they dry rotted and sidewall cracks + poor traction this was supposed to be a 40,000 mile tire buyer beware

So what are the prices for each of the rims you are looking at?

The Hurst wheels that started this thread are on sale for only $129 per so they naturally caught my eye. The Coy and American Racing wheels are in the $180-$220 range depending on supplier. Those US Mags Saber wheels are [best price quoted] $600 per plus $85 for the center cap. Other quotes were $999 and $1350. Don't know what they had been smoking but they clearly are not sharing . . .

I really need to get the suspension and brake mods done to see just how splashy the 15s are with new 245/60 BFGs on them preferably BEFORE I invest in 17s. I know they will be splashy and are only S-rated but they also maintain that sleeper look I like better. The factory Eagles only lasted 24K miles [on the low power motor] and, since I am now only at 28K, my 2nd set of Eagles still had plenty of tread but are about 20 years old and getting that dry rot sidewall look so I just got the BFGs last year.
