Where to start? First things first.

So is having that stock aircleaner box really important? It need so much air to enter to create a good running engine I imagine. We'll I got the plugs. I will get the other sh*t when i have time to go to the junk yard. I hope the plugs will atleast get it to fire. I gapped them .60 and I know the plugs I pulled out yesterday werent close to what I just gapped them. Anyhow I will let yall know what happened tonight when I get off work. Hey has anyone used that seafoam stuff? Would it be good to run some of that in the car since its been abused so bad?

I also wanted to bring up that in the picture at the top of thread of the engine bay. Look between the oil dipstick and brake resevoir. You see the big hose with a huge *ss bolt in it??? WTF!? Where does that go to and why would someone do that???Mannnn.

"someone please guide me in the right direction"
Kris is giveing you good advice and step at a time you should follow it to the letter and appreciate his patience. A volunteer army has to want to. If you don't you will likely throw money down a rat hole so to speak. (As you are obviously not a mechanic by trade no slam intended) The Buick 3.8 is a very reliable engine that is tough to kill. If its salvagable Kris can probably help you. If its not it sounds like Kris has the ideal solution for you but one thing at a time. That car/project can be a lot of fun & very cool for the money or a total frustration & a complete waste of money, experience pays grasshopper follow it. Look at it as a challenge, keep it fun, and best of luck to you.

BTW Kris isn't it time you put together a (another) real cool high performance g-body? Your signature line is lacking some serious fun factor. When is the last time you piloted a posi traction g-body that had you skateing down a straight dry road?

Yeah, in the pictures, it looks like maybe someone took out your smog pump and diverter valve (which is usually hooked to the back of the smog pump). And the block off "huge *ss bolt" is on that hose going to the AIR check valve.
That may be a problem and you may have trouble with your emmisions.

I had a similar problem to yours but not as severe, once the car warmed up it was usually OK for me. But ultimatly the carb needs to be rebuilt on mine as further trouble shooting pointed to the vaccum leaks from a bad carb gasket.
Could be other vaccume leaks from hoses and such on yours and maybe that smog pump missing could be the issue also.

So your engine could very well be ok, and maybe you have more of a vaccume leak of some sort either directly carb related or vaccume hose related.

It's past time!

Ever heard of Dave Ramsey? I'm on the Dave Ramsey plan until I'm debt free. Until then, I get to live vicariously through you! Looks like I have a year or so to go!

myself and krisw are mechanics and i've seen it tons of times and i'll bet he has too. the description of the problem and the plug condition, it's worth the $10 risk on the plugs. besides a compression test won't tell you very much, what you need on something like this for a diagnosis is a leak-down tester. if the compression test comes up with low values you still don't know why. is it wall wear, ring wear, valve seals, head gasket...

Ok you guys first off let me tell you all kick *ss. Especially Krisw. Anyway I got some new plugs. Gapped them and by god it started up first crank. And to top that the b*tch ran at idle for awhile. I let it run about close to five minutes and pulled a plug to take a look. And..... the sh*t is full of fuel and oil. So I put it back in a decided to use the seafoam one time before I decide to change my oil and add the stuff again. So... I let it warm up then shut it off. Waited ten minutes and watched the smoke show. I then went to work got off a couple hours ago went to fire it up again and first crank no problems. So I decided to drive it for the first time. The b*tch actually went into drive without stalling and reverse! I drove it around the storage place then put her up. So...
everything seems decent but the oil and fuel on plugs also muffler and header leaks. One more issue I noticed was when I put it into drive the car like chirped the tires and kicked pretty hard to go into gear. Then When I had my foot on the brake with it in drive it sounded like pinging or knocking. This was before I added the seafoam. And another thing I noticed was when I put my finger into the exhaust out the back there was ****ing wet oil sitting in there? How the hell did it make its way to the rear exhaust. WoW! so whats next? Do any of yall think we can salvage this engine? Im scared to go and spend alot of cash on this motor to keep it up to par while I could of bought a new motor instead. I did the same thing with my 88 mustang and lesson learned. anyway my ears are open to any suggestions. You guys are great! Really.

Is there anyway you can like flush the engine??? I was thinking it was pointless to change oil and plugs again if it was going to get covered with oil and gas again. Also how long will plugs last when they are in the condition like they are? Why is the car still firing even when they are covered with oil and gas even though I just put them in? I just want my car to run decent and hope it will last a few months so I can gather everything up for a rebuild or something.

what i'd do is carefully follow the directions for setting the base timing and tuning the carb first. hopefully that'll take care of the black crap on the plugs and possibly the exhaust. it's hard to tell without seeing it myself but hey tuning is free! always tune first. plus this waqy you can drive it for awhile 'till you have evrything together for an engine rebuild/swap. put a 350ci (any GM company) and that thing will move and the price to rebuild a v8 isn't much more than a v6.
