Of course, some of us who have done the infamous 231 V6 to V8 swap often times delete the CCC. Reason being in my case was the simple fact it is nearly impossible to find a good V8, CCC, wire harness junkyards around here (let alone g-bodies). Add to that, the CCC Q-Jet's are often left exposed in the weather and their condition is questionable.
whats a ccc

with overdrive 2004r's the tcc system is hooked to the computer. Taking the computer away takes the ttc and overdrive of the trans away, the cure for this when removing the computer is to get a tcc lockup kit.

Lets say i was replacing the q-jet and the distributor with vacuum-only replacements but kept the computer in the car and kept it hooked up to the trans. Would the absence of the CC carb and distributor still affect the transmission negatively or is the function of the transmission separate enough from the carb to where I wouldn't need the lockup kit?

CCC stands for Computer Command Control. This means a computer is controlling the metering of the fuel on your carb, controlling timing advanve, controlling converter lock-up, and to some degree your AC compressor clutch too. The computer ( ECM ) uses various sensors to 'know' what it needs to do. Properly funtioning, it give you better emmissions and milage.

If I did a V6 to V8 swap, I'd dump the CCC systm too!

It's all or nothing with the CCC stuff. You'll need to go with a stand alone converter lock-up setup if you replace your CCC carb/distributor.

from what i understand ( heard stories), unhooking the ccc and still retaining the 2004r sans any lockup kit will fry the transmission slowly since the overdrive part of the transmission is computer controlled.

The computer has nothing to do with overdrive, it only controls the lock-up in the convertor..

Is this the A.I.R. system?

Everything else can be eliminated. This includes;

2) The RVB ( the vacuum diaphragm on the passenger side rear of the carb ) and all associated vacuum lines.

3) The ILC ( the goofy vacuum diaphragm on the front drivers side of carb ) and ALL the stupid little gizmos plugged to/from it. This includes the one with the wires going to it too ( the anti-dieseling solenoid)

4) TVS on the passenger side front of the intake and the black round plastic thing with a million vac lines going in and out of it. This has nothing to do with the CCC system, but it cleans things up under the hood.

Maybe some pics of these items would help some guys out......anybody?
