thats not the only thing that wrong

Did you find TDC? I just pulled #1 sparky and turned the motor till I felt air pushing out. I then used a sturdy plastic straw and put it in the hole. I then cranked the motor til the straw stopped coming out. That gave me TDC. After that I adjusted my dist. till it faced the right way and so it would fire pointing towards #1. Popped the cap and wires back on and fired her up. I hope this helps and congrats on getting her going!

what the guy at my buddys shops said put a screw driver in the spark plug hole and feel for the piston to top out.so ill do that lol.

NO! DON'T DO THAT! It could cause damage if it scraches the inside of your cylinder walls or the top of your piston. You can use a plastic clothes hanger and cut it. Just make sure you have the compression stroke.

scratching the top of the piston is not a concern for me. imma only have the engine untill i build my 454 sbc

maybe

454 sbc? You mean bbc. Let me know when you get it tdc. You might need to adjust your dist. next and I might be able to help you on that.
