You don't have to be rich or a douche to buy/own a modern muscle car. You buy whatever you want/can afford. Everyone that's into cars isn't a gifted builder/fabricator, nor may have the time to build a vehicle due to their occupation/life circumstances.

True but there are a lot of these guys who are douche bags. The ones who don't have a clue about cars. The ones who couldn't change their own oil if they had to. Hell, my fiance can change her own oil. Lol

[in a Ferrari dealership]
Roger the Car Salesman: My name's Roger, Sir. May I be of some help?
Memphis: That's funny, my name's Roger... Two Rogers don't make a right.
[laughs]
Memphis: Roger, I have a problem...
Roger the Car Salesman: Yes?
Memphis: I've been in L.A. for three months now. I have money, I have taste. But I'm not on anybody's "A" list, and Saturday night is the loneliest night for the week for me.
Roger the Car Salesman: Well, a Ferrari would certainly change that.
Memphis: Perhaps, Mmmm. But, you know, this is the one. Yes, yes yes... I saw three of these parked outside the local Starbucks this morning, which tells me only one thing. There's too many self-Indulgent wieners in this city with too much bloody money! Now, if I was driving a 1967 275 GTB four-cam...
Roger the Car Salesman: You would not be a self-indulgent wiener, sir... You'd be a connoisseur.
Memphis: Precisely. Champagne would fall from the heavens. Doors would open. Velvet ropes would part.

Honestly, I've had young, male soldiers that you would assume would be car crazy that had never even driven before. Everyone isn't into cars as much as most of us here. That doesn't make them any less of an owner or enthusiast.

I guess im one of the few people who like the Demon. But then again im one of the few people who is a true car enthusiast and just doesn't like one single brand of cars. I never understood why so much butt hurt gets caused by the hellcat and demon. Everyone said "oh the hellcat is a heavy pig" well it also makes 707hp, nobody said sh*t when the CTS-V came out on how heavy it was or how bad it handles. My V weights over 4k lbs and only makes 556hp stock. No big uproar there. I think Dodge making the Hellcat and Demon is pretty cool. And there will be a buyer for ever single one of them made. Got to give it to Dodge for knowing how to market it and make these cars what they are. When was the last time you seen a production car running mid 9's from the factory? And the better question is will it ever happen again?

Oh you aren't alone. I'd love to have one - I just don't think the wife and kids want to sit on the floor in it.

[Kid #1] Why is Daddy the only one with a seat?
[Mama] Sssh... Daddy is about to do a wheelie.

When a guy gets $10, $50, $100 Million at some point a light bulb goes off that says "I should spend this".

That seemed like MOST "Viper guys" in the 1990's/early 2000's. Before the Youtube existed there was at least a video a week on the internet of a Viper right or left turning for no apparent reason into a wall. You saw the same thing happen in the last 10 years with GT500's. How hard is it do a rolling burnout without crashing into a curb or a parked car?

These people didn't have a muscle car when they turned 14 or 15, they got a Honda Civic when they turned 18 (and so they now give their kid a Porsche or Corvette when he turns 16). Trust me, my kid goes to "the richest public school in the nation". The old guy keying a kid's Hummer in the HS parking lot 5 years ago that was caught on the Hummers multiple security cameras and made the national news... happened at my kids high school.

I've done track events with these guys for nearly 25 years. I've had a DB want to drag me out of the car and fight me because I just started my car and "blew dust" on his "$400,000" Saleen S7 before a race (in windy, dusty west Texas, no less). I calmly asked him if he knew what he was about to do (drive up to 168 mph for 118 miles) and told him with turkey buzzards, javelina's and deer used to cars going only 75 mph on that road, a little dust should be the least of his worries. He had zero clue and ran slower than my Pontiac would have run in the same class... in a "$400,000" S7.

For Dodges plan to work, they need hype, hype, hype. Who even knows there was a V10 Challenger Drag pack in 2011? Nobody? Everybody knows their is a Demon, even the DB's of the world (because a lot of them bought Hellcats).

are you a douche because you don't know a lot about a car and you just...buy it and enjoy it? I know guys with Charger 392's that don't know the gear ratio, stall rating, or even the tire width...they might know the advertised hp/tq, but they don't know at what rpm it makes that power, etc... They still enjoy their cars and I seriously doubt they change their own oil lol. Maybe because I'm so new, and ignorant, to the entire car culture (as far as performance), I sympathize a tad bit more for those folks. I just happen to love researching stuff on the internet and I gained a bunch of knowledge in a short amount of time. Some of you guys have been into cars for 10, 20, 40 years though (as far as wrenching on them). Besides doing car audio, I never did anything work to any car that I drove.
