I was always into different vehicles, but when I was really young, H1 Hummers and Humvees were the coolest.

As a young kid, I was also obsessed with Tri-five Chevys. I would always daydream in class drawing '55 Chevy gassers. A few of my friends were bitten by Tri-five fever. I was even partners with a buddy on a '56 Chevy 2-dr 210 body. I was 15-16 yrs old at the time.

Steve,

met this guy and saw this car in person years ago, when it was around 1.5 million miles or so, when I worked at the local volvo dealer... part of a traveling ad campaign... car looked only about a year old, and could tell it was well taken care of.

Darin,
I remember seeing that one. I think the guy was from Long Island, and it still had the original engine in it.

thank you for the link, that is a great story and it shows what can be done with those old cars with no computers and minimal electronics to make them last......

67 nova was my start. My dad had one 283 4 speed and my grandfather had one 283 powerglide. Both bought brand new at the same time. I spent alot of time on thoses cars and learned how to wrench at a young age. Also the first car i ever drove and learned to drive stick. I miss those days.

First obsession was my buddy's 70.5 Baldwin Motion Z-28. Work all week, head to his place on Friday night with 10 gallons of Av-gas I'd get from the local airport. Adjust the solid lifters, set timing, and go out and do the original "Street Outlaws" on the two lane.
Chevelles, GTO's, Trans Ams, we'd run em all. Headers with straight thru Thrush mufflers that ended under the front seats. That one was IT, nothing else compared for me.
Second one was an original 69 Z-28 with the DZ-302 motor. First time I ever saw a small block shifted at 8,000 rpm. That thing would just sing. If you ever get the chance, twist one of those up and bang thru the gears. You'll be hooked too........

Blake442, I’d love to build a Tri-5 Chevy one of these days. If I didn’t have my wagon, that would probably be my project.

I will build a '55 Chevy gasser one day. It's toward the top of my list of must-build cars. This picture is what turned me on to Tri-5s-

I wasn't crazy about the final result of this specific car, but the idea of an original, rust free body with cool patina and radius-cut wheel arches on a racing chassis with a modern Hemi powerplant makes me smile. It will happen one day.
