Got some good stuff this morning. Found the Volvo relays I needed to control electric fans. Got two since this is the first time I’ve ever seen them in the yard I go to. Also snagged some extra Hella relays as well. Threw them all on relay brackets from an S10 and only got charged $16 for all relays and brackets. Ambient temp sensor for the Montes temperature mirror. The sensor I have now doesn’t work and I’m thinking it’s not the right type so I’ll try this one. Also got an all black tilt lever for the column I got from OD Showtime. Thanks Kevin. Good haul today.

there are only about 300,000 Ostrichs in the world so you should feel honored to be shafted by a rare Canadian ostrich....

Canfield paid off again, got a bunch of small stuff but the big score was a x-pipe built for an 85 Monte Carlo (at least that’s what the tag says)

So today, as I was endlessly cleaning in the shop, I decided that I had wasted enough time doing what my wife tells me to do and decided that I would start getting one of my sbc 383s ready to go into the 79 Bu. I have two four bolt main, bottom ends, with cam, all together and ready for heads, etc. So I pulled the plastic covers off of both of them and tried to remember which was which. They are both similar but not the same. One has Teflon coated, Keith Blacks and the other has whatever super-duper crap was being hyped when I built them about 15 years ago. They both have ARP stud systems and double steel timing chains. Both of them have piston clearance of .025 ths in the hole, which is a little too deep for me but I still think I can get about .055 ths quench with the right head gasket selection. A little deep for sbc but workable. I still come out with about 9.7 to 1 compression. I may change the cam to something with a little more overlap and a little closer LSA in order to maximize engine breathing. I won't run more than .5 in lift because I don't want to put a lot of money into double hump heads. (I'm saving for some decent aluminum heads) It will still be a torque motor but may start kicking a little higher in the rpm than I usually build.

Any way, now all I have to do is ask my wife if it's OK.

I'll post a couple of pics tomorrow

i imploded two last summer.one from GM the other from napa.i don't know if it was a combo of the heat in the compartment and the a/c on full tilt that makes for the perfect storm to these things to soften up & squeeze like a juice box.i had this one cerakote'd and I've got a steel one from an 70's Jeep on standby.
