Three 48x5 pieces of 14 gauge steel for the cheap GNX seat brace, and I dug out the foil backed bubble wrap insulation for everywhere except the floor.

The exhaust system on my wagon was fresh when I got the car four years ago. It looked nicely done, but as soon as I started working on the car, I quickly realized it was THE LAST thing put on the car and certainly not designed with normal maintenance and servicing the car in mind.

Now, after three winters, the el cheapo headers the P.O. used are starting to give up the ghost, pipes are cracking, adapters are starting to leak and I NEVER liked the X-pipe being in the way of everything. I could probably keep bandaging it up and make it through the upcoming winter, but I'm over it.

It's all going away.

Today I ordered a pair of stock manifolds and a pair of welded walker mufflers from Summit. When it all arrives, I'll have my exhaust guy bend up a simple dual set-up: no X-Pipe, no H-Pipe, no headers, just true duals that dump out behind the rear tires like before.

I'll get it done before winter while I have the rest of the fleet still in service and can be without the wagon for a day. 👍

Got to the pull a part just as they opened this morning to check on a Cutlass that they just put in the yard yesterday. The entire interior was already gutted. But I did get a radiator top plate and all the hardware and rubber.

Also snagged a water temp sensor from a BMW. I will get a new sensor but what I was really after was the pigtail for the sensor itself. Got them together for cheaper than individually. This is one of the final pieces to an electric fan setup.

Went to the wrecking yard this morning, wife was not thrilled, but kept relatively quite about it. Still looking for AC conversion parts. I found two sets of condenser mount rubber seats, an extra set of radiator rubber seats, and grabbed about 7-8 of the little rubber tubes that cool the blower motor, and a vacuum ball that still had vacuum in it until I pulled the hose off of it. I also grabbed 3-4 brake light switches that have the extra connection to cancel the cruise control. All of these different parts came from various years/models of GM vehicles, but the most memorable was the '87 K10. It has an sbc that I assume would be a 350, from which I pulled the valve covers. I almost could not believe how clean the inside of the heads and valve covers were. If I had not been traveling light on tools today, I would have pulled that motor to bring home. I also got the 3 control switches from inside the AC/heater control panel (blower speed switch, combo vacuum and electrical duo switches) from same K10. I was tempted to get the driver side mirror from a Caprice which may have been an '87, the passenger door had been removed previously. Whatever year it was, it had the same wedge mirror as the Monte Carlo. I already have a full pair, plus an extra driver side.
