My 1999 Air compressor died this week. It should have lasted longer than that. It will go to the curbside maybe someone will take it. 25 Gallon size with busted cyl head (can't get one anywhere). Got another Craftsman 30 gallon size.
I'm limited to the space where the old one came out. I was able to peal some old stickers and apply to the new one.

Harbor freight has a decent selection of compressor units if you just wanted to repower this unit. Kind of a shame considering these usually last forever.

Opened up the quarter deck door and set up the portable sawhorses so I could cut down a 3/x4 plywood panel to make a pair of shelf bottoms for the new bench project. The plywood was part of a concrete form that was used during the pour for the new front mezzanine stairs for my house. Just knocked the form apart once the pour was over and stashed the various bits until needed. The matching panel is actually the top plate for my bench.

Got that done and the tools for it put away. Closed that door and moved down range to the main door and got it open. Set up the portable vise and grabbed a length of angle from the outside pile and harvested a quartet of angle sections from it to use as the basis for fabbing up some corner brackets to keep the hutch in position on the bench top. Made a relief cut in one side of each angle so i could bend them to 90 degrees and discovered that parent material was cast steel and didn't like being persuaded to change shape via the use of a 5# short maul. STuff came from a bed frame that I dismantled so who knew?

Finally, removed the attaching bolts from the security chains that I had put on that freebee rear end that I had scored and replaced them with locks. Added another chain from wheel to wheel and a third lock to secure that to the first chain. May add still one more chain to attach the whole mess to the adjacent steel fence post, then wrap it with Bob-wire. Or not. The local bylaw officers might not be amused.

Closed up the shop, came in and found out, once i warmed up, that an ab muscle had gone into revolt while I was outside, but the cold kept it from being noticed. About par for the course; I hate the cold and it is only going to get colder.

Was going to say , until you said limited on space, hook the two tanks together. But totally understand the space situation.

Tanks are different PSI ratings old is 120 new is 175. I don't think they can be interconnected. Can they be?
I have done this in the past. You would need to keep pressure at the lower range. However I have seen too many older tanks even with proper maintenance and blow down procedures have rust issues causing very thin areas. An exploding tank will ruin your day. Or your life.

Older tanks are usually made better. But matching the lower pressure would be smart. Hooking the tanks together adds more volume to the same pressure. Have to adjust or use the original pressure shut off

I agree with the older tanks being made better, however, 60's, 70's, 80's older. In 90's and up i believe most were Chineseium sh^t.

My old t Craftsman was made by Manchester Tank in 1998 (they still make tanks) per the steel data plate welded on the side. As far as Chinese stuff or any other outside US Mfg, they make what the US Mfg specifies in the specifications. No better no worse. If the US MFG says 10 gage, then it is 10 gage. If the US Mfg doesn't specify then the Chinese MFG builds whatever they want as long as it is meets form/fit/function. I'm 73 and boy have I gotten plenty of Made in America junk in those 73 yrs.
