    TCI Lockup Kit Experiences

I wasn't way too impressed with it. Still had to install a switch to turn it off in hilly areas, as the vacuum it was set to activate the clutch at was too low. I figured it was a flaw with the vac switch they gave me, but the one they replaced it with did the same thing.

Oh how the mighty are falling...

I think that was Subaru's ad. They're sparse around here, but usually when I see one, it's one from the mid- to early-'90's

are they really worth it ?

1983mailbuwagon: Yes, you use everything between the ball joints (spindles, hubs, rotors, calipers, and the brake hoses) Bonnewagon: It is bolt on, as long as you use the Blazer brake hoses and brackets (I screwed up and used the factory G-body brackets and hoses...first hard turn snapped the...

so whats the best weatherstrip brand for complete kit?

I have Steele weatherstripping on my Nova, and it works great, BUT, X-body cars have full-frame windows, 2-door G-bodies do not. That may be where the difference is.

2000 firebird seats in my 87 ss

I had the same problem on mine. Did yours happen to be a factory split bench seat by any chance? I ended up slotting the holes where the brackets bolt to the floor, and using a larger washer. However, the fit isn't perfect; it takes quite a bit more effort to slide the seats than it used to, but...

    supercharged v6

I did a lot of researching about doing a L67 swap in my Monte when I first got it, it would be pretty sweet, but with the amount of $$$ involved in doing it, it would be about the same, maybe even a bit cheaper, to go the LSx route.

    supercharged v6

Actually, that's the 4.3 you're thinking about; the 3.8 is the Buick V6, totally different design...still a very strong motor though. Sadly, no, not without a lot of aluminum welding skill. I've seen a 4th gen F-body somewhere that it was done, but the guy had to cut where the throttle body...

are they really worth it ?

For $60???? Hell yes do it! I paid $200 for my setup, but they were worth every bit! With the dual piston setup, stainless steel braided lines, new rear shoes, and a new master cylinder with fresh brake fluid, my Monte will actually out-brake a '07 Monte. A friend of mine has one, and we tested...

Oh how the mighty are falling...

No, the recall was not government mandated, but the order to halt production and sales was Did you just contradict yourself? Also: Just how slow is slow? I've read at least 4 reports of the sudden acceleration problem on cars less than 1 year old. That does not imply "slowly begin to fail"...

Oh how the mighty are falling...

Actually, Ford was required to stop selling the E350 vans for a short while until they could find out why the ambulance models would suffer spontaneous combustion. This gave them time to do some research and figure out that in the process of converting from a standard van to an ambulance...

They forgot one tiny little detail....The feds ordered them to halt production

so whats the best weatherstrip brand for complete kit?

I'd avoid Metro like the plague. I have it on mine and they leak like crazy. At first I thought it was just a bad set, so I called to get them replaced, got a runaround about how they were installed improperly (seriously, how do you screw up weatherstripping? even if you could, the problem was...

What album is the most listenable of all time?

That's my biggest problem, and the main reason I love my MP3 player. I can go through an album and pick out the songs I don't like, then have them all together at the same time. No having to change discs either! That said, the only album I've ever listened to that I liked every song were the...

    Keeping it stock...305 options

This is true, but if that's the case, then why do people drive 4- and 6-cylinder cars? If you put a turbo on a 4-cylinder, it will make more power, but so will putting one on a V8, so why bother with the 4-cylinder? Maybe it's because that's what they want to do? The OP stated he made up his...

    Keeping it stock...305 options

The key is in your statement right there; if you don't intend to race it, then why go through the trouble of a 350? If performance is the goal, then yes, a 350 is a better choice. A daily driver/weekend cruiser? eh, maybe, but why buy a junkyard engine that will probably need to be gone through...
