Waiting on parts for the 2+2 so knocked out some other projects.
Wife's fusion has been rock solid for 70k miles (130k on it) and it's only had an EVAP purge valve replacement besides normal wear and tear items.
It started leaking about a month ago. Looked like it was coming out of the front trans pan. These 6f35's are dumb in that there is no serviceable filter and like every trans built after '05 there isn't a dipstick and filling them is kinda annoying and there isn't a gasket in the thing, it's all sealed with RTV. I think the RTV just dried out and it started to seep out the bottom.
Was able to pull the air filter box and wiggle the screws out by hand. Upon further inspection I think part of the issue is actually where the wiring harness goes through the front cover. They use a rubber lip seal that goes around the harness plug and just gets sandwiched between the valve body and the trans pan. Seems like a poor design. I added a little trans fluid safe RTV around it and bolted it back together.
Damn project took like 4 hours. The pan can come out but it certainly isn't as easy as a 20 minute th350 pan removal.
And got some more dead tree parts stained. Looking forward to evicting this basement remodel out of the garage.
