Picked up intake and exhaust manifolds, plus turbo, from an '85 Merkur XR4TI at the wrecking yard. These are intended to be available as spares for the 2.3L turbo Ford engine that I am planning on dropping into my '74 Pinto Runabout. I would have liked to pull the eng/trans combo, but the head was missing. It must have been sitting for a very long time before being hauled out to the wrecking yard, lots of rust in the cylinders, and old shed snake skins in the cab under the console. I did grab the Ford T9 5spd transmission just in case the T5 from a '00 v6 Mustang won't bolt to the 2.3 turbo engine.

Waiting on parts for the 2+2 so knocked out some other projects.

Wife's fusion has been rock solid for 70k miles (130k on it) and it's only had an EVAP purge valve replacement besides normal wear and tear items.

It started leaking about a month ago. Looked like it was coming out of the front trans pan. These 6f35's are dumb in that there is no serviceable filter and like every trans built after '05 there isn't a dipstick and filling them is kinda annoying and there isn't a gasket in the thing, it's all sealed with RTV. I think the RTV just dried out and it started to seep out the bottom.

Was able to pull the air filter box and wiggle the screws out by hand. Upon further inspection I think part of the issue is actually where the wiring harness goes through the front cover. They use a rubber lip seal that goes around the harness plug and just gets sandwiched between the valve body and the trans pan. Seems like a poor design. I added a little trans fluid safe RTV around it and bolted it back together.

Damn project took like 4 hours. The pan can come out but it certainly isn't as easy as a 20 minute th350 pan removal.

Had bought a zero turn last year that needed hydraulic repairs. Got it fixed but wanted to get thru the whole season with it before I fully trusted it. So now I can finally sell our riding mower. Went to clean it up and it had a huge oil leak all over the pto clutch. Main crank seal was leaking. The garage is still packed with my car and all of it associated parts. So since the weather was gorgeous, figured this would be the next easiest place. 🤣

Yes, you have to pull the engine to replace the lower crank seal. Wasn't bad. Took about 1 hour, maybe just over for the entire job. Cleaned it up and it's sitting by the road with a for sale sign on it now.

Spent the entire (long and hot) weekend rebuilding the front steps to my veranda. Been in this house almost 15 years now, and the builder’s shoddy workmanship had finally come due. The paint has been badly peeling for some time, and the end stringers were actually rotting away.

No before pictures, but after a boatload of cash (don’t even get me started on lumber and composite decking prices), and a truck bed full of old crap, the stairs are once again solid and better than original. I picture framed the ends for some style and a nice finished look which added a little complication to the job, but I feel it was worth it in the end.

BTW, I hate working with wood. It sucks.

Now onto redoing the rest of the fascia and trim.

More detailed clean-up work removing 90yrs worth of scale from the FoMoCo flat-head 4-banger. It was a dirty job despite the fact that there was no significant visible build-up (no caked on oil/dirt debris). But as I was prepping it for some color, there was a 'chalkiness' on the surfaces that I couldn't get to wipe off. 2-3hrs later, I was a mess but the block & head was showing OE bare steel. Cleaned, prepped, & then some color splashed on. My block will be on the engine stand & reassembly will start this week.

We got the rebuilt motor & modded 4spd installed into the '29 Tudor yesterday. I had to notch an x-member for the rear of the new trans set-up (4spd is about 6-8" longer vs. OE 3spd). Did come nice, clean cuts for him vs. some of the crude hackery we've seen. Ran into a few small issues w/some parts so those will hopefully be answered today & we'll fire it off tonight (my buddy got a header & modded intake/carb for his but we didn't have the hardware it specifically needs). They were both ceramic coated & with the freshly built motor, it really pops. We temporarily have things in place using some short length SBC head studs pending what he sources today.

Rewiring and unfvcking another one- a 63/4 Falcon Sprint for another friend's 71 yr old dad. It's a typical 5.oh/T5 out of a Crustang swap that looks like it was done in 1984. He wants nitrous. Had headlights and brake lights, no park or turn, old gauges, line lock, electric fans, pump, and choke, old Autometers, and a 6A. It also had the most butt connectors I've ever seen in one engine harness!

Got the custom seats today and they are not what I was expecting but par for the course, hopefully someone goes crazy for them when they see them so I can sell the seats to them and get what I had actually anticipated. But now that they are going in they are missing the tilt plastic for the seat which I believe are pretty similar to our cars, anyone know where to go about getting just a drive side one? I searched ebay with no luck
