Fixed the control arm. Both mounting holes were snapped off, only one was left on the shock itself. Had to make one.
If those welds won't hold a shock, the ones holding my frame together are just a figment of my imagination then.
On another note, factory bushings are in great shape and the bolts came out effortlessly.

I have never had another 4 bbl on any Olds I have had, but Qjet and I have had a bunch. My carb adventure happens when I trusted people to be honest. My original engine was a 2 bbl and there was no Q jet. Edelbrock intake , and bought a Qjet site unseen, got a Chev one...which except for the fuel inlet looked exactly alike. I later bought one at a swap meet...correct inlet but was spewing gas. Took it to Carb Connection in WA and they told me it was two halves of wrong Qjets which now doubled the cost to make it right. So if I ever see Paco at another swap meet he owes me $350. Still when they have the right jetting and CFM, I would not ever use another..

That's anything nowadays. You have to go in knowing exactly what to look for, very few people are honest they just want the money.
Sad but true! Gearheads used to help you not screw you and if you were broken down, they would get you going or tow you home. Why is it a Gbody El Caminos still does not surprise people at 40+ years old ? Because there are still people using them for their business and they are all over. I see 10-15 a day. I see no Musclecars except in car shows and yet they still seem to be just a few years old. A 40 year old car when I was young would have been a Model T, Cars have changed but seeing them it doesn't seem they are gone.

60° out here. Went out on the highway for a couple of good hits and topped off the tank.

I like my cars like I like my women, abusive with a drinking problem. 🤘
