What did you do to your non g-body project today [2025 edition]

Since I was off the first part of the week due to the jobs being shut down for the cold, was able to help my buddies receive their cars from Mecum. Man did that turn out to be a task, I got there early but realized I had forgot the jump pack I was supposed to bring so had to run back home. By the time I got there they had all the cars off loaded from the truck, they weren't particularly happy that they only got a couple hour notice on the coldest day of the year around here (likely the last 5-10 years). But as I was pulling up the Reliant truck was leaving, so we got the AAR into the garage since it would start and put it up on the rack to get the Camaro in under it.
That turned into a couple of hour task, hook the jump pack up to it and it was cranking what seemed to be really close to starting but wouldn't turn over. Then it just went down hill from there, the combo of the cold and the cranking for a bit killed the jump pack so we put jumpers on the truck to charge it a bit. Send the one buddy to get a new battery since it seemed to have some type of issue after leaving it connected for a bit. He gets back with what they call a fully charged battery, my jump pack clips tell you what the voltage is and of course 12.9. So we hook the truck back up to it for a bit and fight around with it. Then as it turns out the drivers door stops opening, so our buddy has to climb in the passenger side to try for a while. Finally we give up and start to push it, since they had only got a couple of hours notice and were at work in town. They had got a buddy to come plow it so we didn't have to do it by hand, but it left a ton of snow and ice still that we slipped our way of pushing for a bit and having to take breaks cause of course its a slight incline. After quite a bit of fighting we are getting pretty close to the garage but have lost a lot of steam, someone driving by stops and asks if we want some help. I tell him I sure won't say no and gladly appreciate it. He said the reason he stopped is this is probably the only time he will be able to push a car like this my buddy says "is that cause usually the other ones are running" 🤣 Then finally 3 hours later we have the car into the garage and can call it a day, I think it would have been much less work just to go to work

Some cars seem to emulate reptiles when it comes to the cold. First sign of chilly and they get sluggish and contrary; don't want to start, idle, or run. Get them warm and it still takes forever for the transmission to go into gear once one has been selected. I had a four speed in my daily driver in '75 and while it would start and idle in the cold, the first half dozen attempts to get it into neutral and allow the engine to warm up woujld inevitably result in the engine stalling. Once you did get it to idle in neutral, any attempt to take it out of neutral and grab first would cause it to stall no matter how high you kept the rpm's. The oil in the t-box turned to glue in the cold and only time, friction, and patience would get it to warm up to where it would flow.

1990 Ski Doo Safari 377 fan for putt putting around the yard with/for the kids. Got it for $100 and has broken steering and runs like poo. Hopefully nothing serious.

Whose make of engine is in it? The lousy run and idle is probably a totally fouled up and gummed closed fuel system, likely due to the last owner not doing anything to winterize/summerize the vehicle after the last time he/she went for a ride. As for the steering, that might be why the sled was parked in the first place; parts and labor to do the repair ended up being higher than the existing value. You just might now be on the hunt for a donor wreck to salvage the parts you need. When I worked in that field, we always had a few clunkers or wrecks on hand as donor vehicles but that was then and this is now and I think they mostly now get grabbed by the insurance weasels or sent to the scrap yard for shredding and conversion into priuses.

Drove the k1500 around to do some errands. -50f plow juice seems to be doing the trick. Shame there's no snow though.
Idk about yall, but I really enjoy driving in absolutely disastrous weather. Pretty much to the point of "oh, there's a tornado over there", I'll be driving in a storm, or during a blizzard I'll drive until the amount if snow falling is more than my wipers can move.

Steering is a simple fix, need 2 rod ends. The running bit I'm not sure. My uncle said he got the carbs tanked and that they were NASTY. I'll start with fresh plugs and fresh gas. If that does nothing I'll likely just go right back into the carbs and make sure the floats are set properly, screws set where they need to be, etc. Hopefully that's all it needs.

Getting this RC build closer to being complete and a true replica of my real Cutlass. Still need to get my correct steering wheel, bumper guards and mirrors. Have a bit of more work to do to the undercarriage. But coming along.

Even started in on a garage case for this one like the other.

I have my daughters 2010 GMC Acadia in the shop currently for a transmission rebuild. It has the 6T70, and was having some shifting/slipping issues. After I got it out and tore down, I did find 2 broken wave plates and some worn clutches. I used all new clutches, a Sonnex 3-5-R wave plate upgrade, transgo shift improver kit on the valve body, and new upgraded wave plates everywhere else in the rebuild. The trans is in the vehicle bolted to the engine. I still have to finish the rest of the install.

Got back to the LS swap we had left for quite a bit since my buddies went to Mecum to buy some cars as well as working on other stuff in the mean time. Got a weird one for you guys, I think they ended up finding the solution by relearning the TPS. But when it first went to fire, if almost sounded like its timing was off with backfiring into the intake. But once the TPS was unplugged it would fire up and run perfect. Plug it in and then boom it would die, first plan is to relearn the TPS but will see what that does
