had a 83 el camino last year. someone try ed to steel it. busted out the door lock with a screwdriver and smashed the column. they didn't find my ignition kill switch in the ashtray. kill switches work if they're in a hurry.
hey guys, lets say somebody put a turbo 400 in the car. that would mean they needed a shorter drive shaft?.
so if i put a turbo 350 in the car i would need a stock drive shaft, right?
so i need to go find a stock drive shaft and my problems are solved?
does that make sense?
has any one had this problem before?
i was thingking maybe my motor mounts were too far up, but that dosent make any sense cause then my transmission wouldnt have bolted in properly.
you guys are awsome, thanks for the info.
i was just ranting really. i have an el camino drive shaft i should be able to cut down.
it just sucks to be in the back yard so much longer.
i swapped in a 350 /350 setup and a 3.73 posi off a 87 monte. was getting everything put back together and ready to fire up only to realize my stock driveshaft is an 1"1/2 short.
DAMNIT!
haha! just pulled a pontiac 400 out of my malibu cause my my 350 runs better and i can get parts for it.
but man if you pull it off more power to ya. headers look good.
it would be if it ran properly enough to use as a daily driver. i've got to much time and money over the last few years in my 350 rig to get rid of it. i know it runs and is reliable. the pontiac needs a lot of work. i might keep it for a truck but ill probably sell it.
thanks for the info...
good to know, thanks.
but the engine bay is swimming in wires to nowhere. i shouldn't need most of them for just running the engine and heat right?
i really suck at reading wire diagrams.
hi, i got my hands on an 81 malibu two door recently and am going to pull the mystery engine and trans out (pontiac 400/turbo 400?).
i'm installing the 350/350 combo out of my wrecked el camino because i know it runs like champ.
anyway the engine bay still has a ton of wires from fuel...
sorry im not computer savvy enough get pictures to do what i want.
i dont know much about what malibus usually go for. i paid 7000 a few years ago for my el camino but everything on it was new (interior engine paint) except the transmission and rearend.
hey everybody, my daily driver is an 83 El Camino. im looking at a big job in the next month or two so ill have some money to put in it. im thinking about a hotchkis tvs kit and a quick ratio steering box. basically i want it to handle more like a new car without the time and effort of...
