I agree. It just isnt worth it to me for a car that isnt "rare". I just bought the car so there's no real attachment for me. Live and learn. What really sucks is the engine is at my builders place almost done. Guess when I find something else it will be ready and waiting.
Well. I really started doing some digging on my 87 Monte SS project car today. Some bubbles and pits I noticed around the inner wheel tubs and inside the trunk got me poking around. Needless to say I uncovered an absolute horror of rust on my car. Pulled the back seat out and its pretty bad...
Its interesting that you mention that. My engine guy mentioned running the different ratio rockers to help build cylinder pressure. At least I think thats what he said. I assumed he would put the 1.6's on the intake side, but he may have meant the exhaust side, which would coincide with what...
I understand what your saying. I was kinda thinking the same thing myself. Im no rear end guru, but i cant really believe that the ring gear size alone adds much strength to an axle. If you built a 7.5 with a good carrier and gears, and 28 spline axles, Id have to assume it would would close to...
Just curious what people are using for replacements. I found some NOS sets but they arent cheap. Anyone try anything else, or am I stuck with the NOS ones, or a urethane kit?
Wound up buying a different cam. Wanted the tighter lobe separation.
Lunati Drag Race Hydraulic
295/305 advertised. 245/255 at .050. .534/.540 lift. 106 lobe separation.
A rear from an SS will be exactly the same as what you have now. Different gears, but the same strength, which isnt great. Depending on what your power output is, you may make that 7.5 survive. but you will need more than just gears to have some piece of mind that it wont break. I debated...
Just picked one up. Researched some. Found out a bit about them. Looks like they are tough to find parts for. Its got 28 spline axles. 2.73 ratio. Open rear. Sounds like they will probably handle decent power. Bolt in axles are nice. Anyone know anything more about these? I paid $100.00 for it...
Found a 8.2 10 bolt for sale here locally from an A body. Just wondering what some thoughts are on these rears? Worth my time at all as an upgrade from the 7.5? Its real clean and the guy wants $100.00 Planning on a 500 ish horse street/strip car.
So lets a a guy like whose engine will soon be done. SBC with lets say approximately 500 crank horsepower. Should I be looking more in to an 1 3/4 header? Any thoughts on those roundy round headers? The main reason im interested, is well, 1 3/4 Hooker headers aren't exactly cheap.
