Does anyone know something about AC Pro?

A/C Pro is most likely only compatible with HFCs like 134a. I would not put it in a car that had r-12 (all G bodys). The above post was good advice, just change it with r-12 after replacing the dryer and dehydrating, you will know if it leaks when you pull a vacuum. If it does have a leak, get...

been AGES since I've been on *pic*

Nice Car! If you seriously want to do an LT1, I have one in my garage that will go cheap to anyone on the forum who wants to put it in their G body. It is complete with a harness and computer, from a 1994 Z28, 120K. It is looks rough from being stored, but ran great when pulled from a running...

Anyone into the "hot rod" vans of years ago?

Here's mine: The newer one is a 1999 AWD GMC Safari with a built 4L60 and a Vortec 350. It is my wife's daily driver. I also built the rear end with G80 locker. The older one is a 1989 GMC Safari 4x4 with a Tuned Port 350 with a cam and headers. It has a SM465 cast iron 4 speed, NP241...

if you needed anything that was impossible to find??

Manual trans steering column, tilt, with the wiper switch and cruise on the stalk. I would think this would be more of a reman or something rather than a new build, though. Maybe build them from a more common one, like from a C/K truck, and include a jeep style shaft as a bonus?

    Changing axle seals

I'd replace the bearings if it we mine. The seals are easy, I use the axle or big chanel locks, whatever is around. Yep, just pry them out. The bearings have to be pulled with a slide hammer and attacment, Auto Zone has one you can use. I drive the bearings in with a big socket, and the seals...

    5.7 vortec install

I put one of these motors in my 1999 AWD Safari, it is a great motor. I will say, the front of the block is a little different, I was unable to use the left over 1999 power steering and a/c bracket on my 1989 350, but it was long enough ago that I don't remember why. It had to do with the...

    Light problem

I must have jinxed myself, left for work this morning in my Astro, and my right turn indicator was dimly glowing. It became brighter on the way to work. I pulled the bulb, and one of the wires on the side of the bulb was corroded, and it happened to be the ground (it has the newer bulbs with the...

    CRAZY??????

As posted above, the astro is way too wide. However, the front frame from an S-10 is very similar to that of a G body, if you really want to try it. I know the astro AWD vans very well, so If you have questions, let me know. The front drive axle is the same as an S-10 without the disconnect...

    Light problem

The socket is not grounded, either the ground wire is broken, disconnected, etc., or the socket is dirty or bad. The power is backfeeding through the indicator in the dash to ground, which is why it is lit up solid when the lights are on.

get new rails or find a frame??

I've had several "inspections" in Ohio for Salvage, out of state, etc....they half way look at the VIN on the dash, and that's it. Didn't even ask what was repaired, nothing. Your local office may be different, I dunno. One of the inspections was on a Safari with a tuned port V8...they didn't...

    R12 to R134 Questions

I would replace the evaporator. They are hard to flush IMO. You will need a new receiver/dryer (don't install until you are ready for final assembly and charge), and flush the lines with a good A/C flush, although I have heard that brake parts cleaner works. Replace the orfice tube and all O...

Switching stock grilles for NASCAR grilles!

I would take the original grill and some good prints (color pictures) of exactly what you want to a good sheet metal or welding fabricating shop, and have them made from stainless or aluminum. It may also be good to take a spare header panel if you can come up with one.

Does the smoke have a blue tint? I'm going to cast my vote for valve seals.

where is the neutral safety switch?

The column has to be in the P or N position for the key to turn, mechanically, regardless of the switch being there. I do not know how the switches on your new shifter work, but the two pairs of wires (listed previously) have to be connected to each other to work by the switch. Basically...

    Turbo Monte Carlo

I had a Regal with this motor, I pulled it for a Buick 350. The 350 was way better stock, IMHO.
