    Happy Birthday to me!

well, i got the transmission to the shop and they went through it, new seals, filter etc and they put it on their machine and everything checks out good...thats a plus. Only cost me $150 for that...plus they steam cleaned it so its nice and clean. On the other hand...i started disassembling the motor...

    Happy Birthday to me!

OK, my B-day isn't until Aug. but my dad called me up last week and said he had an early b-day gift for me. Now he lives a few hours away and he told me to bring my truck so the wife and I drove up to Michigan to his house. Lo and behold, he had a Olds 350 with a TH400 transmission attached to it...

Need second opinion from the experts!!

Thanks guys for the answers...lucky for me, I have a guy at work that used to own his own mechanics shop and knows the in's and out's of G-body motors. I already have another carb sitting in my garage that he's gonna rebuild for me, install and adjust it for me. I'm learning but I'm still pretty...

Need second opinion from the experts!!

took the stick out and didn't get 100 yards before the motor started sputtering like crazy...put the stick and it drives fine under grandma type acceleration. Still bogs way down, almost to the stall point, under somewhat aggressive acceleration

Need second opinion from the experts!!

So I took my 86 Cutlass Salon to the mechanic's yesterday because its been running really rough since the cold weather started in. Car/motor has 82k on the 307 and the previous owner removed the A.I.R./smog stuff. So after the mechanic looked it over, he determined that I probably have a few...

Are all 307's basically the same?

I know I'm asking alot, but could you give me a part number for that carb...i was gonna buy this one from summit http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HLY-64-70092/

Are all 307's basically the same?

Well the other dilemma I would face is transmission....mine has the granny car TH200 Metric...I suspect it would not last long with a 350 or the 403. So I would have to swap trannys, and possibly driveshafts because of diferent lengths of the trannys. So now we are into more dollars than i...

Are all 307's basically the same?

Gonna go with the 83 307 and an Edelbrock EDL-3711 intake, new carb, and I'll be going headers because I don't have the original exhaust manifolds from the 83. Gona stick with the CC carb and distributor for now.

Are all 307's basically the same?

i really wanted an olds 350 but I have around $4k to spend total on the car. I need the brakes redone, some suspension componants, etc. I'm not a "performance" oriented guy, and I already have the other 307, so it made the most sense from a finance standpoint.

Are all 307's basically the same?

thanks, I'm thinking I'll just grab up an Edelbrock intake then. This is gonna save me alot of time on the rebuild, instead of having them rebuild the engine thats currently in the car.

Are all 307's basically the same?

So I have my 86 Salon that needs some engine work and I also have a 307 out of an 83 delta that I could save myself some time by having it rebuilt while i'm driving the car still. I know there is a difference in the heads but could I take the block, internals and the heads on the 83 and drop...

    86 Salon starter removal?

Well I just decided to go in blind, since the manual is very generic. First thing I did was spray everything down under the car with Engine Degreaser last night. This helped get rid of a bunch of gunky buildup under there. So the starter is drivers side, rear engine. I disconnected the battery...

    79 Cutlass , removing blower AC heater " box " ??

Re: OK ! well i removed mine....it wasn't easy until i realized that i didn't need to save the box itself, then it got extremely easy. Its very hard to reach the bolts under the box, so i just used a BFH, or large hammer, and broke the box apart then removed the bottom bolts.

    86 Salon starter removal?

Anyone know exactly what i need to remove to remove the starter on a 307 86 Salon? I think i have blown fusible link not allowing my battery to charge.

its not that bad...all you have to do is bend the pedal...not actually move it.

    Voltage issue...HELP!!

Alright...so i noticed on my voltage gauge that it never gets above 12v...not a real problem in itself. But I have a brand new DieHArd Gold, brand new 120 Amp alternator, and when i measure the voltage I get---> 12.9 volts battery at rest, not hooked up-----14.39 volts at battery engine idling...

    Best Front Stage...?

it would involve either cutting the door or building a pod that sticks out kind of obnoxiously in the cabin off the door. I prefer the kickpanel myself. The other concern about cutting the door is window clearance. They do make a prefab set of lower door panels for your car with built in speaker...

    Total custom G-body

Hey guys, it's been long enough so I decided to begin my 81 Cutty Brougham project. This will no doubt be a 1-2 year labor of love project for me. Now, I realize that in the custom world, as with G-Bodies, it's either love it or hate it. I am 200% positive that this will be the case with mine...
