    14 inch rallys

I have three of those on my el camino. They shine up nice. Just keep in mind, they wont fit with big brake upgrades. Still, I've always liked that style of wheel...

    REAR SPRING HEIGHT?

Ah... Ok, I was thinking the previous owner put them in to RAISE the rear of the car. I personally prefer the rear to be level with the front. (Mostly because I like taking corners at a higher speed than is considered normal, and never plan to use my elky as a truck.) I DO know that...

    REAR SPRING HEIGHT?

'73 - '77 elkys arent too popular in the car culture. They are often considered to be too big/ugly/ etc. If it was a '72 I would say go for it. You are better off looking to sell '78 - '87 elky parts. Keep in mind that the larger parts, such as rear ends, front clips, doors, etc. Can be a...

Re: 1982 chevy el camino **NEW UPDATES**11-15-2009 Well..... Theres nothing wrong with taking the car to a shop if you are too busy to do something. I've done it and I take pride in doing things myself. (Except bodywork.)

    Roll cage in El camino?

Thank you Phoenyx! That would be perfect! I wonder if it would be legal or if it was just done for looks? I will be running somewhere around 11.0, or so. (Just guessing, but with the mini-tubbing I plan to do, I'll be able to get around a 14" tire under there. Dont want to have my...

anyone convert dash cluster to led?

If you go to www.thirdgen.org and then go to the "interior" section, a bunch of guys have done this to their f-bodies. There are a couple of really good threads on LED gauges, including sources and lots of pics.

    what insulation should i use?

Where are you looking to insulate? (Floors? doors? etc.) For doors I would recommend Dynamat 6211 (Original) They make some specifically for floors that also acts as a thermal barrier.

Those niosy smelly things that everybody hates

and I thought you were talking about imports with the "Fartcan" mufflers.... Either way, I have always liked the 700R4 myself, But I'm partial to them because of my experiences with 82-92 F-bodies. My 86 IROC is a manual shift 700R4 and It's not much fun to drive on the street after a while.

Re: 1982 chevy el camino **NEW UPDATES**10-19-2009 You only live like 12 miles or so from me. (I live right behind my second home... Speedworld raceway! LOL) There is a guy on ebay who sells the full dash cap for something like 90.oo or so. He lives in AZ , and I've heard he will sell the...

    Header Heat + Wires

We were shocked too! We were sure we had just ruined an expensive set of wires. It was on there for over a minute! Good stuff! Just bought a set of them for my 383 T/T build.

    Header Heat + Wires

That is one thing ford got right. Also for your spark plug wires use moroso's "Blue" race wire set. They are almost impervious to heat. While breaking in a friends twin-turbo 502, we accidentally laid one of them right across the hot-side housing of the right turbo. The housing was glowing...

    OOOPS!!

I cant blame you for that! No pay? No way! I would have told him where he can stick it. Years ago, I worked for a body shop where the estimator screwed up and told me that I was going to have to do a core support replacement for free. I asked him "Where are you going to find a bodyman to...

Any other good car forums you know about?

Not everyone considers them classics, but if you like 82-92 camaro's/firebirds, you could go to www.thirdgen.org They are very friendly (They have LOTS of members!) Another site is: www.nastyz28.com Good luck!

Would this be a good deal?

In AZ 125.00 for a set is the common price. Little far from SD though.... Theres a couple of sets on there now, in fact.

How Much Should a Rebuild Cost?

8,000 seems a little much (But entirely possible, depending on what parts were put into it.) I scratch-built a 425ci LS-1 from all new parts for around 11,000 and made around 650 hp. In my opinion, spend the most money on heads and cam.
