I finally tackled the project I have been dreading for a while. Both corners of the quarter windows were rotted back at the pointy part, right were normal tools really don't fit or are in the wrong position even if you get them in there. Out came the dremel, 90* die grinder, die grinder, and files.

Cut out the bad

Fabbed up a couple pieces

And Voila!

That sequence took hours of grinding, fitting, grinding, fitting, etc. I am usually all about metal work but this was not fun. Luckily the passenger side isn't quite as bad but I hope to knock it out tomorrow.

That does look like a tricky spot to cut and weld in. Looks like you got it took care of though. Nice work. I dread having to do the metal work on my Monte Carlo.

What did you use to cut that out a dremel?

On to the passenger side, luckily it had a little less damage but was still a tight area to work. I picked up a Harbor Fright air saw to make some tight cuts but still used two die grinders, a dremel, and at some point a sawsall. A few more tacks and it's done.

While I was treating the pieces of metal I used with Ospho I threw one of the window brackets in the solution

Looking good, man. Those corners in the quarter window frames are a b*tch. Wagons have to contend with the same rust issues. Looks like you got it licked.

Today is, Fun with Coal Slag!

Picked up one of these from Amazon, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GVHB7ZI/?tag=gbody-20
And whipped up a suction tube and I already had a bag of black diamond medium grit laying around so today I'm going to hit the heavy surface rust areas and the window frames.

But for one hour of blasting, man what a mess, two hours to clean it all up. If there is a next time I'm doing it in the yard to avoid clean up.
