Back in the early 90's I was at the local muffler shop and the mechanic was pulling out a 1 ton 4x4 Chevy pickup. When he started it, the starter sounded different than a Chevy starter. I asked what was in it. It was a 500 Caddy. Guy that owned it was there and just had duals put on it. Swore up and down that the truck would get better gas mileage and tow better with it than a SBC or BBC.

Awesome build!

Doesn't surprise me in the least. In my 78 1/2 ton with 2.76 gears, I had a stock Vin Y Olds 307 out perform two stock sbc 350's in every way, including mileage. An Olds 350 was even better. The sbc, just like LS, except the new Gen 5 motors are terrible truck motors, super soft down low. I argued with one guy on ROP of all places, how my 94 Olds 350 powered Z71 without a proper tune seriously out performed indentical drivetrain and gearing stock 5.3 LS trucks, idle to 4000 rpm. With a 454 TBI, it was even more of an annihilation down low and matched the LS up top, when it ran right. Of course he also endlessly defended how strong the 700R4/4L60-70E was as well😂. A Cad 500 in a square body would be amazing, power down low, no need for peanut ports to make low end torque.

I don't really get the full thump from the picture. Maybe a video would be better

While frying tires

At 5500 rpm

5500 with a 4.3" stroke? Are you kidding? ;)

Okay, 6500.

Now you're just talkin crazy. Seriously though, I'm figuring 6000 seems like a nice round number.

I can tell that you won't stop until you get a burnout video.

Just messin' with ya. ;) I have a 6k chip in the Olds; if it can breathe and has a light rotating mass, you're good.

The cam is good for 2400-5900 and the heads will support it easy. I’ll keep the 6000 chip in the MSD.

Nice, showing clearances as well. Do you use a bottom feed filter, aren't the factory TH400 top feed like the 2004R?
