1980 Pontiac LeMans Station Wagon - G-T-faux (stuck with it, and can't shake it... like a bad case of herpes)

With the Ontario and Quebec borders reopened, it would seem a trip to the track is in order.

The first time out it went bottom 13s:

Then bottom 12s, almost an 11:

I am curious to see how much further I can take it in this form. So, that is the near term plan. Just need to organize a track day. I am pretty sick of seeing it just sit there.

Hopefully it can resume cool-family-truckster duty again soon.

Somebody's got a serious driveline clunk under WOT. Nothing's obviously out of place or broken. Might be the triple disc converter?

There is a bit of a witness mark from the sway bar on the diff cover. Hmmm...

pull the rear bar and go for a ride.already in the air that's half the battle..

I am going to make a few tweaks as soon as it cools off. I am sitting in front of it with a fan blowing on my back while I sip a Perrier. Because I can.

I don't remember, that's a D60 right?

Rotated the sway bar back a bit. Checked the rear suspension over (nuts and bolts). Poked and prodded. Tweaked the driveline angle (shims under the trans mount), and checked the whole shebang with the Tremec app.

Did an oil change (first one on the hoist)... out with the two year old Mobil1 and back in goes some tried and true Castrol 5w-50.

Magnet looks suspicious again for the little amount of time on this oil change interval.

Went for a drive and couldn't reproduce the clunk. Go figure.
