1983 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Sedan LS Turbo Build

The intake temp and back pressure will let you know hw much more there is in it.

150 is excellent unless the curve looks like the north face of Mt Everest.

Here is the boost curve with manifold intake temperature. 👌🏻

Dang gum that turbo spools. 2 seconds from 4 to 20.

What cooler are you running (I forgot)?

I have the dimensions somewhere in this thread, but its roughly 24"x12"x4" I believe (air to air).

Weighed the Cutlass this AM:

Me in it (192 lbs), 80% full tank. Pretty damn close to my guess of 3850 lbs.

Based on the weight, the car made 853 whp to run a 9.68 @ 142 mph 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

I’ve been dealing with a serpentine belt issue for a while; only knocks it off after a full pull at the track.

Which is particularly worrisome due to lack of power steering and voltage for the fans.

Finally said enough was enough, and took the front of the car apart to look into it more. I had already replaced both the tensioner and idler (thought maybe the 130k miles on them was an issue: it was not).

Used a straight edge and found the culprit:

Power steering pulley was out about 1/8” 🙈

I had replaced the stock LS truck one with a smaller Dirty Dingo one to clear the steering box. Guess I didn’t put it all the way in!

Had to take the turbo kit off to get at the pulley:

Rented the installer/removal tool from VatoZone and boom:

Much better!

While in there, I replaced the belt with an HD version (cause, why not LOL):

Let’s hope this ends all the drama!!
