1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Brougham

Next steps:

1) complete the wiring and testing for the passenger seat - power seat tracks;
2) install passenger power seat;
3) power antenna- installation (bought an aftermarket E2 unit);
4) 200-4R installation... to replace the 200C currently in use;
5) 3.73 rear end installation - including rear disk brakes + new boxed lower control arms / solid bushings;
6) front brake - new calipers + disks;
7) Pull down trunk unit - installation;
8) winter!

During the winter, I will complete the 3.8 Turbo rebuild which is on hold right now.

Looking good! You should do some you tube videos on how to. I'd like to get some ideas. Do one for the antenna. And rear end up grade would be real nice.

Thanks! I am not much into videos, but I should try for one item - the antenna would be a good candidate for a short, youtube vidéo.

Got this on ebay - an automatic rearview mirror. Not sure if it's 1984-correct, but for a 3-year difference, it's something I will accept 🙂 It will look period-correct all and all.

Based on all the options I'm adding to the car, I should rename this thread: "1984 Oldsmobile Wanna-be-Seville Turbo build"

Got these '78 Olds 98 cornering light... something to fit on the Cutlass. Was surprised to see that '80s Cutlasses did not have any "cornering" light options, based on the documentation I found. Hum?

Today.. got the automatic/electronic rearview mirror in the mail.

Wiring below. I like the fact that GM provided an extra wire for the reverse gear operation. Great engineering. ( I am an engineer myself, no irony here 😉 )... I approve. I will respect that and make the effort to wire that extra feature for my 1984 Cutlass.

Power rearview mirror is installed, almost wired.

In the meantime, coming up with a small circuit to hook the cornering lights with the flashers.

Basically, you can simplify the attached circuit (left circuit on the attached) to one diode, one condenser, one relay. The transistor is a nice to have, and also the diode parallel to the rekay coil. For reference, my condenser is 2000uF but will need something 10x bigger to get the relay to stay still for 10 seconds.

Will try to fit this on the Cutlass so that it looks stock -: sentinelle lights from a Seville.

Installed:

*electronic rearview mirror
*sunvisors light/mirror
*dome light w/ reading lights

The sunvisors are from a 1994 DeVille, which required some custom fitting at the bracket level, but it looks 100% stock.
