they should be removing the taillights, mirrors, side 1/4 windows, emblems and marker lights.... good progression, just hope they don't cut corners on you putting it into paint

Exactly what I was thinking....I am surprised that your body man didn't suggest removing everything to do the job right. Unless your OK with damaged and painted trim I would remove everything. Don't forget the chrome molding. Even buffing a car will mess up this stuff. With that said, it is always a good feeling to see progress. Keep the pics coming.

Stopped by Maaco to check on the progress again, and it looks great. It looks even better in person than the pictures show. Still to come - black on the bottom, spoiler, clearcoat. Unless we get another blizzard I'll have it back by Tuesday. Can't wait for spring.

Looks shiny....Are you changing from the nice factory grey / silver paint scheme? The color in the pics looks green.

Yes, I am changing the color a bit. The actual color now is GM Sky-Grey, its like a gun metal color. In person there is no green at all, guess it is the pics. The bottom color will be black. The striping will be the same gold.

As for the body work, it is Maaco, and you do get what you pay for. They actually removed a lot of the trim (like tail lights, front bezels, and some of the chrome) but I knew not all of it would be removed going in to it (like the side windows). That is what separates a $3700 paint job from a $6500 paint job, so I had to accept that and work within my budget. But up close, I honestly can't even tell. I met the body guy and paint guy, and the work they did was phenomenal. I'm really happy so far. And the top color looks amazing in person. I'll have some better pictures tomorrow when it's earlier in the day and lighter out - they were nice enough to move it outside for me to take the pictures yesterday. I have to say I have been impressed with this Maaco!

just wanted to give some helpful advise being you are putting the time and money into it. Yah the side windows I understand, but they could have both been removed in about an hour or less. I'd just follow up on those edges with clear coat to lock in the paint edges so you don't have it peeing back on you. I would also take a razor blade and clean up the gap's in the 1/4 extensions to the 1/4 panels, Many Many people leave these on to make painting easier. From the pictures it looks like the shop on rt. 88 or the one in beachwood. Also wait a few months to really buff the paint (even tho most shops do this right out of the booth), allow it plenty of time to cure.

Thanks! It is the shop on Rt 88. I know I would have some more finish work to do myself, but it simply came down to budget. I'll have it back tomorrow so I'll get some pictures up. In person it looks great, and for what I paid I am very happy. All the overspray you see on the side windows, that was me from my pitiful attempt at body work. I figured I'd clean it up when they were done painting. From what I could see there is no overspray or problems from their work.

BTW - Chic-fil-A starts up first Saturday in April. Let me know if you will make it out to any of them and I'll try to get out there and meet up.
