Olds used hot air choke in 87. They also use a weird vacuum idle kicker instead of a solenoid.
Do you mean the solenoid to increase idle with A/C? Any cars I have owned had the electric solenoid.

Yes. Chevy and Buick used solenoids while Olds used a vacuum diaphragm that is controlled by a solenoid.

Not on the ones I owned and my friends as well, only a electrical connection. Then again, our cars were non CCC till 86.

What I am talking about would be US cars where each division had its own unique CCC setup.

Our Olds G bodies, with the exception of the Hurst/Olds, 442 and 88 CSC which were CCC 307 powered, all got the sbc. Pontiac's with a few exceptions got the sbc since the 60's up here. I am going off B and D body 307 powered cars which were also mostly non CCC had the electric solenoid. My 88 had the original motor gone, so who knows. Anyone have a pic of this solenoid, curious what it looks like.

I have never seen that style, electric only, interesting. I will take a pic next time I am at the wrecker, there is a fairly complete Olds 307 powered 87ish Caprice. I might grab the CCC distributor and maybe the 2004R.

Yeah I'm kinda hazy on the stock carb on my 86 cutlass but I clearly remember that solenoid
