dang, with all the new parts you're welding in, you could almost build a whole car! wouldn't it have been easier to find a non-rusty roller and then have it shipped in by slowboat? and then you would have tons of spare parts.

why do I get the feeling, based on your prior builds, that the end product will be something like this?👍

Ofcourse that would have been much easier, and cheaper!

I'm not sure if I'm ready to reveal the real motive of this project yet, it may or may not surprise you, but I'm trying to do the best job I can to make this car roadworthy again, nothing more really, I don't have any modifications plans, at least yet...

Progress may slow down as winter comes, I'm moving houses too !

lemme guess. since you live in the land of ice and snow where the hot springs flow and not the desert, you're not making it a 4x4 offroad swamp buggy or this....

so it would have to be this.....

The driver side floor pan almost complete, if I were to guess I would say that this side of the body shell is around 80% finished. The passenger side is not as horribly rusted but it will need new inner and outer rocker panels, at least... And I have the floor pan ready if it turns out that it is needed there too.

Nice work! What's the red stuff, primer?

Yea it's rust inhibiting primer perfect for laying on bare metal very strong and durable, I put seam sealer straight on top of this primer with great results.

It's also very thick so it kind of acts like a seam sealer in a way, and never gets rock hard

Hi, sorry no there hasn't been much progress, I've been moving houses and renovating for the past 3-4 weeks.

I did however finish all the body mounts on the drivers side, so I've flipped the body stand onto the passenger side where about the same amount of work is ahead, I think the floor pan will not need replacing as a whole though, but the rocker panels and the body mount braces all need replacing, just like the driver side.

But there is no sign of giving up, however at a time the enthusiasm took a dip, now I'm regaining some confidence to continue the tackle of this project and progress will resume soon, pressure is on to get the body back on to the frame before snow(2-4 weeks) hopefully, and then when the car is a 'roller' technically I can do some long awaited work on my other vehicles, and continue to play with this one before next summer !

Alright, a little progress, some touch up of the driver side floor panels, i will have to dolly them in place and do the seam welds and then brush seam sealer over it to finish it off, this will happen much later... right now I'm anxious to finish the cutting and welding, I need the workshop for more projects which have been waiting and my toyota pickup needs some attention before the winter travel season which is just around the corner ! I want to install the front diff locker, etc..!

So I've marked my deadline to be the mid december for when the car can be taken out of the jig, and preferable released ontop of the frame (not bolted ofcourse, more work is needed on both the body and the frame before that)

But at least so it becomes a rolling body again and can be transported in and out, and around the workshop so it's not stopping other projects, the driving deadline is may 1st 2019, a year after I bought the car and drove it to where it still sits ! and the finish deadline (after assembly and touch up paint, not full paintjob yet) is july 19.

These photos show the current state, I'm fabricating the new floor bridge between the floor pan and the inner rocker panel to prevent body warp if I cut the rocker panels out, unfortunately the piece I bought from USA from a used parts dealer wasn't very useful on this side, it was very useful on the drivers side though! But unfortunately, probably due to miscommunication various necessary components of the piece were cut off (maybe to save space for shipping) and therefor the piece is useless for me for anything but reference.

This is good though, to have reference, because this body mount was completely turned to dust and floating in the air..!

Don't worry much about it though, as I said I'm making this bridge probably temporarily, and I will make a new prettier one once the rocker panels are in their place, so I have something more solid to attach the bridge to, I don't know, I'll see once I get the rockers in !

Stay tuned for the progress, motivation is high these days !
