Great work so far!

Any idea how long the LS has been in Iceland? Curious as to the story of how some US cars got overseas and when in their lives. Safe to assume salt is used as it is in many areas in the US during winter, is there a period of time that your roads stay "clean"?

yes the salt season is usually late october to mid may in the capital areas

this monte has been here all his life, I have his history and I'm the 12th owner !

the first owner supposedly was a wealthy air pilot and bought this car for his wife, but she never would drive it because she liked a 4x4 GMC suburban much more

there are no specialty parts here, but I ship a pallet each month from florida from where I've gotten most of the parts

Holy cow, talk about some serious rust! You Sir have my utter respect for tackling a project like this and staying on top of it!
If I would've brought home a project like that, my wife would've kicked me out of the house and burnt down not only the car, but also my complete shop 😳

Funny thing, I watched the movie "The Deep", an Icelandic movie about Guðlaugur Friðþórsson who survived several hours in the ice cold sea after his fishing boat capsized and there was a nice black Monte Carlo SS in the background somewhere in the middle of the movie.

In need of expertise, guys

I need the body mount bolts, and I need some very low profile header bolts or stud kit

any good places I can find these? I tried rockauto and I found the body mount bolts on Brians' site but it won't let me process the payment and I remember last time was a nightmare because I'm outside USA 🙂

Summit racing will ship to you. Those are the header bolts I'm using. I recommend the remflex gaskets....

thank so much man, I bought these parts now, and the rad support bushes and bolts aswell from the same guy on ebay

The problem with brians' site is not that he doesn't ship to me it's that because I ship all my parts to a pallet in florida, and from there combined shipping to iceland by air, the shipping and billing address don't match and it doesnt get through the payment authorization on some websites, I remember last time brian made a special exception to use paypal to accept my payment but he says he normally never does that because sometimes he doesn't receive the full amount back from paypal for some reason, so I don't want to trouble him with that again just for these couple of bucks worth of parts.


this will set me up for reattaching the body back on to the frame which Im looking forward to very much, however some work must be done prior to that happening such as fuel and brake lines fabrication etc.. 🙂

How did I miss another build ?? Amassing how a car can look so good and have so much rust. Hats off to you, no way would I have taken that on.
