BUILD THREAD 1987 Olds 442 Project Build

wow i wish my floors looked half as good

I credit the good weather stripping around the doors and good seal of the front and back glass. Other than that, just lucky I guess.

Laying out the pieces needed to prep the F**D 9 Inch for installation. I need to weld some brake line tabs and make a bracket for the "T" block hose that connects the rear to the frame brake line.

Of course, learning my rear end was toast, headliner suddenly breaks loose and falls which for me meant => seats out of the way so I can get in there and work so why not pull the carpeting and dynamat everything above and below while they're out, and then realizing all my body bushings are toast in a 28K mile garaged 24/7 just due to 30 year rubber rot which are all just a bit beyond my [current physical] ability to make much progress on . . . despite your really much more extensive project, I still think you're going to beat me done. I remain, um, inspired! Yeah, that's the word . . .

Looking good Hutch!

Just started following your build and love it.Was searching SSII wheels on Google and ran across your YouTube vid and saw the wheel here too.Is this something that might possibly be available to buy in the future.I'm sure there would be a lot of interest.Would like to hear the story behind them regardless.

A guy named Gary made the prototype and 4 centers.

The intention was to produce them. It never quite made it, although he has told me that he may try again. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time when I convinced him to sell me what he made. It was like getting a delivery straight from Santa.

I may have already given the specs, but the 9 inch is a 3:50 posi, 1350 yoke, 31 Spline, Strange S/S Axles, Ford Racing M2300 Rear Disc Kit

I got these from MHT [US Mags parent company]. I had to modify the center caps to use the factory 442 caps otherwise they just say "US Mags" but they are a nice looking, sadly, very expensive wheel. And, the final polish job on mine was apparently done by "the new guy" which I had to fix unless I was willing to pay 2 way shipping back to them, and back to me, to get them to do it right?
