BUILD THREAD 1987 Olds 442 Project Build

That is so cool you build your own rims!

Ummm, I would like to say that, but I just assembled them. Gary Willard is the craftsman behind creating these. Gary, if you're reading this, many thanks to you brother.

I actually had this nightmare too. First it was a great dream because I actually got my 87 done.

But then, running 150mph down the straightaway at Circuit of the Americas, my friend (Steve from NM) and I were talking about how smooth the ole girl was at speed, how well she was handling, and . . . all 4 wheels suddenly, simultaneously, and rather explosively left the vehicle. Strangely enough, we just smoothly slid to a stop. I then laughingly said to Steve, "and it was commonly known . . . as revolting development!" Then sitting there laughing about the whole ordeal waiting for the ground crew to pull up . . . we got hit by a meteor.

I'm never going to Austin . . . 🙄 Whole thing was too real . . .

Man, I loved those rims (still do). Gary and I corresponded personally quite a bit "back in the day". Hope all is well with him...

Still e-mail him from time to time (as early as last week). Seems to be doing well. Great guy.

I love the idea you can get all sorts of different sizes...

I would probably buy 17x8 like the Centerlines I have. They seem to fit nicely and don't look too "modern". I think Gary's/Hutch's are 18"?
