Andrew, I just spent the last 45 minutes typing out a reply as to how our cars are our babies. They are conceived in our minds.

I remember that first pic I saw of your car in the garage and making a comment to you about how I was doing the same to my car. My car still has so far to go and yours saw the light of day today. You got to drive yours today.

Well, as I was getting ready to hit *submit*, my neice decided to kick off her shoes and unplugged the freaking internet!!! Grrrrrrrr....

To sum it up, congrats on your accomplishment!!! Great vids, just keep up the work. You're doing one hell of a job and you're doing it at home and on your own!

Agreed. Well done on this build bro, and congrats from me too! 😀 LIke dr78442 said this truly is a work of art. If you're like me, your every waking moment is consumed by thoughts of what to do next, down to the finest details of getting her prepped for the road, from body to wiring to minor adjustments here and there. Many times I find myself gazing at pictures of her because there's so much to do.

My baby is in similar stages to this build. It's in the body shop now for final body/paint and there's a lot of fiberglassing and sanding to do, so in a few weeks it'll be on the road. It moves on it's own power but I really have to get the EFI on the crate motor working smoothly, because it's not at the moment. I still haven't actually driven her anywhere on the ground, just up a ramp.

Oh and 86Cutlass383SR it's happenned to me so many times lol, I make it a habbit of hitting CTRL+A and CTRL+C prior to each submit button. Matter of fact that helped my last post because it didn't go through the first time!

Ooo, where did you get the fender-to-radiator support braces? They look amazing. I mean whole build looks amazing, but I especially like those.

Which ones? The aluminum ones or the black ones?

That aluminum braces I bought aluminum tubing from www.speedwaymotors.com and then some rod ends from Summit Racing.
But they really didn't fit properly and the rod ends were too tall and wouldn't allow the hood to close.

So...

I made the black ones later on. Pretty easy to do. Bought two, 36" lengths of 3/4" diameter steel tubing from TSC. Measured from my fender to the core support. Smashed one end in my vise, drilled a hole and mounted it to the fender. Put a slight bend in the bar then flattened the other end, drilled a hole, powder coated them and bolted them in.

It's actually pretty easily done so if you can't find an original set out of a G-body at the yard, its probably just as quick and cheaper to make them. I think I had a total of $14 in the metal and maybe a 1/2 hour of my time.

I'm not sure you have the mounting location on your fenders, but on some of them they also had a pair that went from the center of the cowl to the fender.

Just sayin' 😉

Re: 1987 Olds Pro-touring project build *LONG*

just got a monte ss spoiler to put on the cutty thanks to eightupman over at oldspower, now my question is which is the front and which is the back, both ways look right to me and could you give me an idea on where you put your mounting holes, any help would be appreciated

Re: 1987 Olds Pro-touring project build *LONG*

The ones that you made are probably stiffer then the OEM ones. They flex quite a bit, I'm not sure if it was meant to be like that to absorb, or if it was meant to stiffen to a certain point. Doing some braces just like you did on my Malibu.

Re: 1987 Olds Pro-touring project build *LONG*

I came across a couple of your older posts regarding a Watt's link... does the car still have this or did you go a different direction?

Re: 1987 Olds Pro-touring project build *LONG*

It still has the watt's link.

Andrew great build. What are you using for a rear spoiler. Do you have any close up pic's of your rear spoiler set up. Thanks. Bernhard

The spoiler is off an Monte Carlo. I was told it was from a later '80's model Monte. From what I've read, there's two styles of spoilers for the Monte, one lays down more and the other sticks up in the air. The later model's had the lay down so I'm told which is what mine is supposed to be.

I'll take some closer pics of it sometime this week and post them.

Thanks,
