Love seeing the updates on this build. Everytime I see your progress pics I drool -- car is always lookin' sick even though there's much to do still, especially with those wheels/tires on the back (which I hope you keep)!!!

Thanks man.

I will be keeping the wheels/tires for a while at least. But eventually I want to go bigger. Probably 18's but not any larger than 19's. Mostly so that I can go back to the 13" corvette front rotor instead of the smaller 12" LS1 rotor. I also didn't get the backspacing quite right on the front wheels so they sit a little farther out than I would have liked.

Biggest change I'm going to make with the interior is the steering wheel. I don't like the woodgrain look since it doesn't match the rest of the fake wood grain in the car. I also want something a bit more retro and cool so I'm thinking about going with a banjo syle steering wheel in black leather:

I think it would look a lot nicer and flow with the interior more.

make sure you have the doors adjusted properly before you install the hood.....one of my doors was about 1/4" too far forward and it hooked the corner of the hood bending it a little... 😳

Definitely. I'm working from the doors forward. I'll get them aligned and then align the fenders to the doors and the hood to fenders. Going back and forth as much as I need to to get everything right.

I'll probably get my friend that's going to paint the car to stop by and help me with the aligning just so that I know its done right. I can't start fitting the body kit until everything is aligned properly first.

Car is looking good, thanks for the updates. Have you ever thought of not going with the body kit?

As to your coolant leak issue:

Could it perhaps be a bolt that was threaded into the water jacket that was not properly sealed when installed? Just a thought.

Oh, and, your car is sweet. I'd love to do a frame-up.

Thanks.

Yeah, I have considered it however I like how the front air dam finishes off the car and gives it a bigger presence. It helps hide that funky transition between the chrome bumper and fender where they used the plastic bumper cover to fill. However if I do the front air dam, I need the rest of the kit otherwise it doesn't look right. Ends up looking like a big cow pusher on the front of an old train. lol

Don't think so. An Olds engine doesn't have any bolts that go into a water jacket of any sort. I think it probably has something to do with the water pump seal and or timing cover to block seal. To fit the AIT Super damper with a stock water pump we had to grind and cut a portion of the pump mounting ears. Could be one of the bolts just loosened up.

Thanks. Frame-up's are a lot of fun but a lot of work as well. Not to mention very time consuming and costly as well. I just hope it's worth it in the end and I don't end up with a 15 second pig.

Re: 1987 Olds Pro-touring project build *LONG*

The bumper fender transition is poor on most older GM cars. I just think your car would look cleaner with out the kit.Your car is very very nice with out the kit and does not need it to stand out. I just don't think you can beat the factory lines. If you look at all the Mustangs they just do not look as good with the body kits.I even think the Olds G body looks better with the factory flat hood than a cowl hood. I do like your rear deck lid spoiler. It flows well with lines of the car.I think the olds G body can look very menacing. There is a black one with the wheels up in a sig on ROP and one that was in a mag with a model that looks very mean, as examples. I'm probably bias because I grew up in the pro street area.

Could ya give a little insight on where you got or what you adapted to make that rear spoiler? I'd really like a spoiler that style for my 442
