What color is the interior?

Many years ago, I was going to buy an early 80's ( I think 83 ) turbo Regal. Best color scheme I ever saw on a G-body and it was all stock. It was 2 tone sorta like the H/O/442's with black on top and 'tan' on the bottom. The interior was a sort of beige. Classy, yet sporty.

Keep in mind, Olds was using this paint scheme long before the Bandit T/A with the Hurst Olds's. 😉

Besides, I like the Bandit car. Granted I would do it a bit different today without as much of the pin striping and such but would definitely have the Firebird on the hood and gold wheels. 🙂

I like the Bandit cars too..............I have a blue 78 T/A. True Olds may have done it first, but to most people when they hear Black and Gold I think they would think of a T/A. I am sure if you decided to do it, it would look nice. The work you've done on the rest of your car is top notch.

Have you considered silver instead of gold? Just a thought.
Also about the paint scheme, what about something like this? I have this model car in black/silver, it's not the same car but just an idea..

I like your idea!
Maybe it's just my slight color-blindness, but that looks green to me... I'm sure with the right shade, it will look fantastic!

It might on your screen. On mine it's a goldish color but I could see where it may look green if viewed on another monitor.

It's my eyes... you just found a sweet spot in the spectrum that I can't see.
I can see green, and I can see yellow, but all the shades inbetween I have a really hard time with.
I can see the gold on the wheels perfectly, but the color on the car looks like a light army green...

If it was me, I'd go with the 'Firefrost' gold that was on the '69 H/O... That's gold!

Looking at the paint formula for Fire Frost Gold, there are 3 different greens in it. 🙁

I'm not entirely sold on the older "golds" that GM used. However the gold they've used on the new Challenger's and Mustang's is much closer to what I'm thinking.

I have a feeling that If I go this route, the gold will end up being somewhat custom to get it to look right.

You should checkout Dupli-Color's Camel Tan, it's a metallic gold color that looks really close to the factory 442 rim insert color.
I ordered a few cans myself and it looks spot on, this photo makes it look more tan than gold but if you get a can you can do a few test sprays, they only cost around $4 from Dupli-Color, GM294

How are you fastening the ground effects to the car? Clips, screws, double sided tape?

The front and rear kit is pretty easy. We are planning to fiberglass fasteners to the backside of the pieces and drilling holes through the fender/quarter panels and using nuts to secure them along with metal tabs along the bumper that will bolt to the original holes holding the chrome decorative piece to the bumper support.

For the rockers, those will be bolted on as well with hidden fasteners. The friend I have working on this just finished installing an '88 Hurst Aero kit on another friend of mine's car and he did a wonderful job at coming up with a hidden mounting system.

The biggest issue with the front and rear pieces is providing them some movement so that when the car is jacked up, it doesn't end up cracking anything.

thats a ton of work but its going to be smooth and clean. I ended up using some ABS plastic laying around, it was about 1/4" thick. Made 10 2-3" x 3-4" or so plastic brackets that dropped from the original bumper cover mounting holes and bolted the front piece to those. Most people are wanting a smooth stock look like yourself. But the plastic drop down brackets provide a lot of flex. I can kick it and scrape a curb hard (not that I'd want to  ) without the fiberglass cracking.

Could you use some sort of plastic bracket or rubber extension between your fiberglass mounts and where you're bolting on the body?

Drew thanks a million times a million for that message you shot me a few days ago. Although i dont have any parts yet (there paid for already) this gives me major insight on all the fab works thats involved. Now im somewhat like....."what have i gotten myself into" :blam: but overall its going to be well worth the troubles in the end. now i just have to wait for the parts that are being made to get finished up and shipped to me. it kills me somewhat knowing all the work i'll have to do for the parts but i cant fully workout any issues until i have the parts in hand....oh man waiting sucks sometimes 😀

Hmmm...that'd be pretty tough to paint most of the car with. 😉
