What is the rest of your combo? What trans, stall, gears and exhaust?

I guess back to the Edelbrock cam it is

Copied from the Edelbrock website. https://www.edelbrock.com/performer-plus-camshaft-kit-for-big-block-oldsmobile-350-403-v8-3712.html

The camshaft will produce optimum torque from the low-end to the mid-range, Performer-Plus camshafts match with Performer manifolds for vehicles operating from off-idle to 5500 rpm. This Performer-Plus is a smooth idling cam for daily drivers. Idle Vacuum @ 1000 RPM’s = 16”. You can expect a major improvement in throttle response and torque.

*Remember I bought my Edelbrock Performer Plus cam & lifter kit for $25, so I'm definitely going to use it. This cam, along with a properly tuned carb, a recurved distributor, and dual exhaust is all you need for your cruiser.

Save some money by getting the Elgin part# E976P available here - https://www.competitionproducts.com/Elgin-Oldsmobile-V8-Hydraulic-Flat-Tappet-Cams/products/307/

Combine it with a set of Melling hydraulic lifters available here - https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mel-jb-951?rrec=true

I have read many times that Oldsmobiles like a dual pattern cam.
My 214/214 cam pulled great with a 2300 stall, 1/4 block burn outs, felt stronger than the 204/214 cam. Going back to the TH350 and a 1700 stall is blah. The first gear does make a bit of a difference, had 2500 stall as well. The 204/214 cam launched fine with the 1900 stall D9 2004R converter. The 2400 stall worked OK with my otherwise stock 403 with the 204/214 cam but may have shot past the power band. The Elgin and Lunati version of the 204/214 cam show a 112 LSA vs 114 LSA for the Edelbrock and maybe the Melling 204/214 which I have also ran.

Stock rebuilt engine, just swapping the cam.

200-4r, 3:42, Thorson shorties and dual exhaust

JUST A CRUISER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
