3rd gen or 4th gen pedals?

I've got the modified 3rd gen pedals in mine and they're alright. Well, I had them in my 84 and drove it for some years just fine. Now that everything is going in my 86, I'm reusing the same set of pedals.

I will say this, if ya got'z big feet's, don't try to wear work boots ... the space in there is a bit tight but nothing you can't get used to.

costas, here's a picture of the F body pedals using the F body pedal bracket. Take a look at the location of your brake pedal and you'll see the difference of the height and location relative to the firewall of the pedals. You can also reference the location of the pedals with the parking brake pedal in the picture

Thanks pontiacgp, they really look pretty good in there. I'm glad you had pics, I havn't heard anyone mention the height difference before, and no one ever has a picture that illustrates it that well, I see exactly what you mean.

While they're out of the car would it be worth extending the bar where the face of the pedal connects to? It looks to me like if the pedals were moved down 1.5 to 2 inches they would be perfect.

Are they high enough where your foot has a tendency to slip off? The last thing I'd need while racing somebody is to screw
up a shift because I couldn't keep my foot on the pedal. :blam: Well maybe mine will have to be extended before they go in then, but let me know what you guys think.

I'll take a shot of my pedal set up tomorrow (er I mean later today) and I hope you can see the difference in the pedals. I don't have the parking brake pedal tho to compare it because I removed that and installed the F body hand brake since I'm using the 4th gen console and I like a hand brake instead of the pedal

yes they are... the pedals are so high and close to you that you have to actually lift your foot straight off the gas and over to the brake pedal instead of just basically sliding your foot to the brake pedal. If you do it in a panic situation and don't bring your foot straight up you end up hitting the back side of the brake pedal with your foot. I also had problem with only being able to stop on the brake pedal with my toes since the pedals are so close to the panel under the dash. I drove my car with the F body pedals a few days just to see if I could get use to them but I found them a pain in the butt and the brake pedal was a safety issue...

I didn't get a chance to take a picture of mine....I was installing the frame and stuff so I forgot all about it.

You guys do know that they sell reproduction g-body pedals right? I'm running g-body pedals and a 3rd Gen camaro master with a hydro throw out bearing. I have size 15 sneakers and no shifting issues like with camaro pedals

I know they sell pedals but the article detailing the conversion sounded pretty convincing the f body pedals fit. I did sent them an email thanking them for wasting my time. I would go with an aftermarket G body pedal if I was doing another conversion

The article says they fit, but not perfect. I just went with the Bzdel pedal because it was the cheapest option for me, $195 for the pedal, 135 for the hydro linkage and I already have a 3rd gen hydro bellhousing. Repo setups are $350 to $500 with out the special bellhousing, and used setups with worn out parts are $500 easy.

Bellhousing? You must be using a slave cylinder then, I'm running a 3rd Gen camaro master and a hydraulic throw-out bearing, 70's Corvette BBC bellhousing, and stock g-body pedals, I wanna say around $300 with bellhousing installed working flawless
