Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

this guy's car is freakin awesome!! ...she looks good bro and you got somethin to be proud of!!!

Thanks bro! All the hard work is starting to pay off 8) I cleaned up my alternator and threw it back on today, so I had the camera out, got the pics you asked for, but they are on my laptop and I can't steal the neighbors wireless now, so I'm stuck with dial-up on the desktop and windows XP

Thanks Craig. Never really been brave enough to tough it out in the cold lately workin on it. My mom wanted the garage this year :x My dads buddy told me the modules in the mid/late 70's are usually a problem. I got an autozone gift card for x-mas, so I might as well put it to use. Do you know if they are the same between non computer and computer?

If those valve covers don't have any script stamped into them, I would like them if you for sure don't need them. I just want to kep a stock look on the engine but a little dressed up.

Can't wait to see the 403 come together! By the sounds of it so far it should be a screamer.

I got a set of rally gauges, (i think i told you this) so I might give you a shout once spring rolls around. Thanks!

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

Looks very clean! I do love a clean engine bay.

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

about the battery drain... i had a similar problem i thought it was the alternator but it wasnt it was something really simple. check your fuse box and the power wires to the radio. also if your power antenna doesnt work pull the plug to it because i left mine hooked up even though it didnt work and it killed my batt in a week. i am going to pull that ant and rip one of those rubber short ones from this iroc z i have in my garage

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

Matt,

Yeah, I know what you mean. Temps are low enough that I dont feel like going out to the garage either. My buddy Tom has a furnace in his garage, so we will be building the motor in his garage. lol

As far as the modules go, yes, they are different between the non-ccc one and the ccc distributor. Thats why I figured if you wanted to just borrow one to test with, at least then you can narrow it down and buy only the parts you need.

Let me know when or if you need a hand. Things arent as hectic around here now, so I have a bit more free time to maybe help out.

Take care

Craig

Thanks! I'll give you a shout before-hand If I stop by and pick up those valve covers, If i'm there I might as well borrow a module too.

Went and got myself a jeep steering shaft today and a metal rad. hold down plate incase I do electric fans down the road sometime. They are starting to crush a lot more cars at the 'yard now so I figured i'll grab all I can

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

My dad and I did some welding on the new/used dual hump crossmember from an A-Body (I think) Just patched up some thin spots and took care of all the rust. Still have to shorten it up and figure out how I'm gonna mount it. That can wait till spring though. Also made my own EGR block-off, and have been cleaning up and painting parts to put on this spring.

Looks like you have quite of collection of parts. 8) I have a few parts waiting to be installed on my GP too. Good job keep the pics coming.

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

Damn, looks like my basement and garage. I have a ton of parts waiting to go together and be put on the 87. Keep up the great work on it. I better see you in it driving come spring.

Re: Build Thread, What I've done so far

Alright, a little update here on life and the car

My one good buddy is the manager for the valet service for a small restruant in Erie. I was gonna start this summer, and just quit my other job at the car wash. I ended up getting suckered into working one day a week, as long as I keep up with school... Long story short, my buddy busted open his kidney in a snowboarding accident, so I'm working weekends now since he can't work for another 3-4 weeks.

I was a little leery at first until i saw the paychecks  So I currently have enought money to buy my 2.5" exhaust kit from summit and more 8)

I also figured out how to mount up my dual hump "A" Body crosssmember by emailing questions to a guy that sells parts for us G-body enthusiasts. I saw a pic of his product (Driveshaft safety loop) and his X-member in the background (which is identical to mine.)

Everything is starting to come together nicely. Hopefully the exhaust doesn't need any major modifications. I'm gonna have a couple or friends who are starting a rod shop weld the pipes up except the mufflers, I'll put some nice clamps on those incase I don't like the summit brand mufflers.

Posi can wait for now...

Can't wait for spring break. Only a week, but i gurantee I'll be up late every night wrenchin away!
