Not much of an update but I got my noisy gear to gear timing and full Fel-Pro gasket set from Summit. Im not real sure on whats next because im hoping my buddy can do my heads in his custom engine building class so that will save me time and money. Im kinda just daydreaming and collecting parts as of now. I have a line on a Moroso 6qt stroker oil pan for $75. It sells new for over $200 so im hoping to get it next paycheck. I also managed to get the engine up on the stand. And yes its in my bedroom

Is that a Proform gear drive ???
If so,Proform is generally considered to be Chinese POS products.Send it back to China and get yourself a Cloyes or Crane Cams billet double roller timing gear set.

Yea its a Proform and yea I have heard all the rumors and bad things about Proform but I know a lot of people that have and still are using Proform products and have never had an issue. I used a Proform timing set in my 400 and I havent had any issues with it at all in the 3 years its been running. Im not by any means saying that they make great products but I'd rather go with what people around me and myself have used and had success with. This probably will be the only part from these guys I use though

Mainly just camshaft specs but I know some people refuse to give them away if its a custom grind. Also how did you get to 511 cu. in? Is that a 454 .120" over with a 4.25" stroke?

I got the 511" with a 4.375 bore x 4.250 stroke the block is semi filled . 454 4 bolt block bored .125. The cam is a custom grind but I don't think I'm racing anyone here. So I'll give up a lil info. The. lift is .765 in x .785 ex . Duration is 260 ish in x 270 ish ex @ .050. It's a 4-7 swap N20 solid roller. It idles kinda rough. 😀

I got a little update. I had time to ream out an intake guide to get my valves to fit. After setting the intake valve down onto the seat I found out that these heads have already been cut for over sized valves. I originally measured the valves and they came in at the stock 2.06 intake and 1.72 exhaust so I figured the seats were the same. I started the bowl blending today and plan on cleaning up the ports alot more. My instructor says I should be able to get atleast 5% better flow than stock after a simple port and polish job. I have access to a flowbench but I gotta ream out every guide inorder to get the valves in. You can see the size comparison between the stock valve and over sized seat. I was never able to get the valve in to see the difference

Found this kinda odd, a guide insert with a bronze liner in it. All the exhaust valves are like this.
