502 chevy vs 350 chevy

Well I'm partial to big blocks so if it were mine the 502 would be going in.
But,where it's a tall deck this could present some fitment issues, especially with headers or manifolds.
And it could be even worse if those heads have raised exhaust ports...

Also,I'm up to 650 HP and over 620 lb.ft of torque and there are no issues with the frame twisting, although mine is not a T Top car.
But I do have some basic bolt on frame reinforcement, such as Pontiac GP front frame bars,(jounce bars),rad core X brace, and the upper rad support to inner fender braces,Iceman HD transmission crossmember, rear control arm braces, rear seat braces, rear shock tower brace, and a rear frame brace, but the frame is still un-boxed.
I have been to the track a few times and the Monte sees a lot of "spirited" street driving in the summer time.

I'm not sure on the heads, l'll have to check into that when l can move things around to get at it.

Interesting comment, Thanx!!

If you have the 502 'laying around' then that's tough to ignore. But, Ok, no but's - put in the BB.

I have very limited experience with BBC's, but the issue always turns into $$$. Obviously, you're past that issue. But any cranked up BB is going to require chassis upgrades. If you don't want to upgrade the chassis, the a 400HP NA SB is the way to go.

Personally, I prefer the 800HP SBC. 🙂🙂 Oh, wait a minute - I have one 🙂

Also having a big block makes it hard to retain AC and a tall deck would make clearance issues .400 worse.

I think l'm getting more confused again, lol!

It isn't so much l don't want to reinforce the frame, it's more so that the body is T-bar so that takes support away is my way of thinking.

I was thinking about the AC an clearance but l thought l might just get rid of it and just go with a heater box. That's what l did with the 468 bb in the olds.

So much to think about an limited hair to pull out!! Lol

I am definitely a BBC guy but once you go there you are building the rest of the car and drive train to handle it, so it ends up being the "snowball effect" since it goes well beyond simply replacing an engine.
But then again you are already planning on a 9" rear and a trans upgrade so you are kind of on your way anyway and how can you not be impressed on how a BBC fills up that engine compartment.
