Yes, a few weeks ago. I went and bought some vacuum caps and the like to cap off lines and fix the mess of vacuum lines. It ran perfect until recently, it'd do good to recheck but I doubt that's causing the surging and cutting out.

Does your 429 have electronic ignition? I'm wondering if this might be an ignition module problem? Maybe you could get the module tested when it is cold? I may be way off but it crossed my mind and I'd rather throw it out there than not say anything.

It doesn't persay, but it does have a MSD 6A Box and Blaster coil. As far as I know the box it hooked up right, all the plug wires are right. It kind of has a miss sometimes, I think some plug wires might be on their way out, but I don't know yet. I know the 8th cylinder (back driver's) was the only one to have a bit of oil on the plug while the other 3 on that side looked new (new Autolite 45s like the ones that were in there, copper core). I'm gonna disect the carb, clean it, and tune it in with that vacuum gauge im gonna pick up. If that doesn't help, I guess I'll have to deal with it. No cash for a new one. I may be able to talk my dad's coworker into looking at it again...

You mentioned before that sometimes there is no fuel visible in the fuel filter before the carb. I wonder if you are experiencing a restriction at the pickup in the tank?

It's possible. And pontiacgp Stock autolite (I think it's autolite anyway. Something with A, and AC Delco is GM) 1970 Ford 429 Points style distributor. And stock as in the original as far as I know, not stock repro.

If there is a restriction in the tank, I'd just have to leave it until I pull the motor. I really don't have the space, time, money, or patience to pull the whole tank out. I did put some seafoam in the tank as I've said before. Used half a 16oz can and 8 gallons of fuel. 8oz, 8 gal.

Dropping the tank shouldn't be that bad once it's low on fuel. You may want to have a new 'sock' on hand if you do drop it. You might even be able to get a new tank and/or sender from Rock Auto. Spectra is making a lot of tanks these days.
