605 Steer'n Box Gave 78K Everyone opts for a Heavier unit?

There was an article in Hot Rod Magazine a while back. It mentioned using a box from a Jeep Cherokee or Grand Cherokee...I'll have to refer back to it. Apparently, the Jeep uses the same 800 series quick ratio box, but of course you'll still need the 800 pitman arm from a G-body car. The 605 is a paper weight or small boat anchor. I've replaced two of them in my car over the years...complete junk.

Soooo an 85 Monte SS with the 2.5 to lock it's a drop in or will I need a different Pittman arm?

Thanks

If you find a Monte SS box, it will most likely come with a pitman arm....hopefully.
What kind of car is this going into? You may need to replace the power steering to steering box hoses for ones that are compatible with the newer box.

I'm guessing it's going into the '81 Malibu?

That will work, but I think the F-body pitman arm is slightly longer. I'm sure someone on the site will chime in if it can be used on a G-body.

You could try car-part.com to search if there's anything local to you. http://car-part.com/
