That should be a decent motor. A compression test should tell how healthy it is.

I found out that it has a broken intake manifold bolt

Not particularly looking forward to extracting that. It's almost flush with the head so that's going to suck.

At least it's steel on iron, not aluminum. I dread those.

True. I'm thinking of giving that CRC Freeze Off a shot to see if it's worth a damn. I normally use PB Blaster or Kroil for everything. I'm going to try to make this as painless as possible and hopefully no broken drill bits either.

Good look with the bolt g-vet. I've had to deal with that before, a few years ago, being a stupid kid (lol) i went and took the cylinder head off of our riding lawnmower just to see what it looked like, and when i put it back together, i overtorqued the bolt and it broke off in the block, so i drilled a small hole in the side of the bolt, stuck a pair of pliers in the hole and twisted it, and luckily i was able to get it out. Like i said, a major stupid kid move, lol.

Went out and pulled the passenger fender, old sway bar and cut the front shocks off. It was about all I could take with the heat! Sweated my *ss off!

Re-usable??? Maybe? FYI....that's a HF sawzall blade. Doesn't take much to bend the piss out of one. I'll be sticking with Milwaukee from now on.

Here's how the g-body swaybar brackets compare to the 34mm F-body. The rusty one is the G-body, painted one the F-body. You have to retain the G-body brackets when upgrading swaybars obviously.

Rubber bushing on left, energy suspension 34mm on right. The old brackets will get blasted and painted before installation.

It was hot as hell out there too! I would've stayed in the garage with the a/c if I didn't have to yank that fender. What appears to be sweat is last night's 12 pack!

BEER! Best air conditioner I ever used! Ever hear of Gibbs Oil? Farmers and marinas use it. I swear by it, as long as you give it some time to work. I play with outboard motors so I get lots of broken bolts in aluminum and the Gibbs is terrific stuff.

I picked up the Poncho 350 today and so far, so good. It has great compression and the lifter valley is pretty clean. The outside looks like a Pontiac fossil though lol. I'll update tomorrow. I'm beat!

Good deal. You are going to like the 350. Most Pontiac snobs look down on it but it came in practically every Firebird, LeMans, and Ventura from 68' to 78'. The 2GC carb is decent, but a Q-jet is better, but you knew that.

if you have a welder you can drop a tack on the end of the broken bolt and build on that till you can weld a nut to it....
